The thing with Gray, is I think his career topped out with us, will decline from here.

Rescued from purgatory at BL, only here because we were skint and had to look for bargains. To be fair he contributed, tried, but limits were always evident or flattered to deceive.

If he kept his mouth shut he could have left with a lot of good will, instead his Everton career will be remembered by pushing for an out and as Roy would say being a big “baby”.

Laters Demari, you’ll never have it as good again.

Wide options last season post Jan: Iwobi, Gray McNeil

Wide options this season: Danjuma McNeil Harrison Dobbin Young (if needed)

We’re arguably stronger than last season although an extra body would have been nice
Not really stronger...similar perhaps...difference is that iwobi was always fit, so was gray to be fair to him. We'll have to see with danjuma and Harrison. We needed to be significantly better and yet it is not quite clear if we are.

Has the club confirmed that he is going? So far other than a few twits, nothing official as of yet. The only official message from the club was that he was staying.

Didn’t someone on here, I think it may have been @BlueToff say that Dyche is generally regarded as arrogant amongst journalists? (It may not have been an apologies if incorrect). If he’s like that in public, there’s nothing to say it’s not worse in private, but the reality is Gray has been unable to hold down a role at any club, and in any team for a while now….and there does appear from the outside looking in, to be a sense of entitlement with him.
Yes, he comes across as arrogant (from two people I've spoke with who are in the room with him off camera for the papers).

Don't think either the club or player have handled this well.

It was Dyche's call to have Gray and Holgate train away from the main group all summer. That wasn't Gray's decision. But that did come after both parties had made it clear they wanted to part ways - and there's nothing wrong with that in reality.

IMO though you have the player training and as an option. From reading between the lines, looks like when Dyche/the club tried to call Gray back, he refused to train - which is wrong. But, the club could and should have got him moved on earlier.

The 'finding a replacement first' story just doesn't add up when they hadn't had the lad training.
