I believe there's quality in DCL, but he needs a couple of years under his belt of consistent playing. Unfortunately for us, that'll mean we either take it on the chin for a couple of seasons gambling that he'll turn out well whilst he doesn't add too much for us over those seasons, or get shut. And it's a gamble for sure.

Unfortunately we also have no other options after him and Kean. Richy I presume will always be playing for the immediate future out from the wide. So we can't even loan DCL to get that experience elsewhere, as he's needed here. A real conundrum for me is how to use him with a view to him being the business in a couple of years. Very tricky.

Whatcha gonna do? Hate on him from the safety of an internet forum or just hope that his progress is exceptionally fast and he actually does become the real deal?

Ermmmmm...yeah I'll stick to the safety of an internet forum cheers lol

Strikers are judged on their goals and when you combine last season with this, he's on a pretty extensive drought for games he started for us as a lone striker.

Yes he works hard, and it's probably true that the amount of harassing he does and his runs into the channels comes is to the detriment of his own attacking positioning, and it is also true that when he came in last season, our performances improved (how much he was responsible for that is obviously debatable).

However, when you look at the list of non-top 6 Premier league teams he wouldn't realistically get games for, then it becomes pretty damning. He's getting nowhere near starting 11s at Wolves or Leicester (it's questionable whether he'd even get on their benches) whilst the likes of Bournemouth, West Ham, Brighton, Norwich and Burnley would probably have no place for him either.

We just have to hope that Kean adapts quickly. I don't think we can go through another season of just Gylfi and Richarlison being our only realistic goal scorers.

he needs a couple of years? he's 22 already, he's not good enough

And thats fine, ive no issue with that, im sure even his biggest fans would concede that we should and can do better. But the poll choices are either hes very bad or hes very good, theres no middle ground.

So no, hes probably not good enough to be starting every week for us, that doesnt mean he stinks tho, he does a good job for the team, IMO hes better than Tosun and Niasse, players we paid over 40m for and clearly not just IMO, in Silvas opinion also.

I dont even understand why we are talking about him, its not like he had a hatful of chances, I thought he did a decent job of leading the line myself.

You're trying to talk sense on the internet. RIP frando.

the poll is just fine ….

will he get us goals - which is meant to be his main job in the team , esp with one up front

or is he not capable (at this level) of getting us the goals we are going to need.

whats hard to understand here

if I put c) is he ok to stay in the squad and come on for ten mins every game - well everyone would undoubtedly go for that. but that's not what I want to know
