We’d be better loaning him for 1 year and should be able to find someone to pay more than £1.5m for that year.

If he’s a success we can sell him them. Not sure what point a 2yr loan would be?

I don’t believe it anyway.

Hopefully 12.5 mill of the wage bill, and 3mill in a loan fee with a salable asset at its conclusion. I can see the sense behind it to be honest.

A two year loan away would just be stupid at those fees, they’d have no intention of buying him at all. Better to just flog him now or give him a chance.

It makes perfect sense if hes not going to play though.

Absolutely no value to him sitting on the bench and training here and snaffling 120k a week.

There are limited alternatives, he wont move and why should he - hes won the lotto with moving here. Everton wont play him and are making massive losses on a player essentially sitting around depreciating.

A loan is the middle ground in terms of the lad maintaining a career and us mitigating a loss for a non playing asset.

This is part of the assessment Brands and Silva talked, if they feel he won't play a part for Everton there is no point him being at Finch Farm. Players who aren't playing and who are on big wages damage the morale of the team. They can become a bad influence.
If we are not going to use him regularly then we need to get shot of him any sensible way possible. I would hope he would stay and turn out to be the player we thought he was but failing that if we can't get a reasonable price then loan him out.

...they’ve said they have to move players on and I presume this totally gets his wages off the books for 2 years and brings in a small income. We were always going to have to take a major financial hit on Klaassen. I’m afraid this is a consequence of Walsh/Koeman.

Move him out, move on.
But it doesn’t, that’s the problem. 1.5m isn’t close to 100k a week or whatever he’s on. That’s over 5M a year. We need a better deal.

I liked him as a player, didn’t think he was remotely worth his fee, but if he is seriously getting 100K a week, we’ve gone mental.

Any loan should have a compulsory purchase included otherwise what's the point?

Lots of points - experience for a young player (eg Lookman), game time for an out of favour player, a way of getting a big wage spend down, etc etc.

If all loans had compulsory purchases, we’d see about half as many of them.

If he is not in anybody’s plans, I think any deal to get his wages off the books is a good deal.

How does everyone on here turn into expert deal negotiators in such a short time?

I didn’t say I’d have him sat on the bench, said either flog him permanently, or actually play him. If there’s no takers or he turns out to be useless, then send him on loan in January.

If we are going to loan him then why not offer him back to Ajax on loan in a deal for Kluivert/Ziyech? Surely he would be more likely to agree to that.

Because perhaps neither of those two has any ambition to play for Everton.

It’s not just down to him like

I've got the feeling that if anybody in our backroom knows Klaasen and what he can offer, it will be Brands.
If that guy is relaxed about the player moving away, then who are we to argue?
