Sadly, one could see Davy's struggle at Everton coming. Given how weak the Eredivisie is becoming, one really needs to stand out in a way guys like Eriksen, Vertonghen, Suarez, Pelle, Wijnaldum, Alderweireld, Tadic and Davinson Sanchez did in order to have a shot in the Premier League. Even at 24, Klaassen never reached that level: Pretty allright at Ajax and competing with a bunch of other rather average midfielders for playing time on a not overly impressive Dutch midfield next to Georginio Wijnaldum and Kevin Strootman.
Having said that, I wouldn't write him off either. When adjusted to the physical and mental demands of English football, I can see him getting some goals in and hopefully riding the wave of momentum to arrive at a better place. Besides, it is a lovely fellow for the group; hard working, positive, understanding of what the trainer wants and just a model professional. Not a likely candidate to cause trouble in the dressing room.
