Particularly enjoyed it when they said they expected him to go for £15m less.

Yeah lads because you'd really sign the Ajax captain for £9m. "Experts".

Stek and Moisander were both Ajax captain's and moved for a lot less that £9m

De Jong moved for £6m to Newcastle.

Think they've called this one correctly to be fair.

Only if in the same season, not really comparable in this climate, Championship teams buy for £6million currently!

It was that you couldn't buy the Ajax captain for £9m though, you can, as long as you don't panic

Still comparable I think. Has anyone else moved from that league this summer for more than £9m ? I don't know tbf

De Jong had lost his place in the Ajax starting team for about 2 years prior to moving to Newcastle, was in the final year of his contract, and was regarded as a failed prospect by them already mate, hence why he washed up at the horse punchers, think he'd also suffered a couple of pretty serious injuries as well

Middlesbrough just spent £6.5 million on a West ham Reserve player. Context is everything and comparing different season transfer fees is misleading. No doubt the price increased when Everton or any other Premier League club checked him out, he would have gone to Germany for at least half the price..

I will be honest and say i was very impressed with Sandro, the quality can be seen from outer space. I think there will be a lower level on expectation with him because of his fee. But i do think he will be very successful.

I think fees do come into it peoples judgement and expectation mate it shouldn't be pound for pound but they do have an influence on judgement. I think that is just human nature. Same as Seamus Coleman was given two seasons to break into the first team without any quibble to develop into a world class full back. I remember Baines being lambasted on here and threads about selling him when it took him a while to break into the first team for a fee of 6mill. Like i said if Niasse cost 100k he wouldn't get half as much stick as he does.

Its a different argument to Klassen as a player but i do think based on the fee the expectation to crituqe his performance is higher because we have paid a quater of 100 million on the lid, i think thats fair.
But Sandro isn't a 5 m player
He's a 30 m player we got cheap.
If he a hissy fit tomorrow and said he wants to leave what do you think we could ask and get for Sandro

I agree. Prices right now are determined by the market at points in time.

Btw I think your name means "nothing is the best" !! Nisi means "but". Lol

Just Kongolo & Karsdorp I think.

You can buy Ajax captains for that price though. Recently Vertonghen (9 mil € + add-ons), Alderweireld (occasional captain 8 mil. €)

This is what I am saying ArmelFrandel. £24m for NaiKlassen is starting already to look like we've gone too big too early.

hahahah why is everyone talking this signing down. was quality in europa league last year. ajax are gutted to lose him johann cruff quoted saying this
You must have strong positioning, ability to control the ball at speed and also have the technique to deal with the speed of it [in midfield].

"Xavi, Toni Kroos and Davy Klaassen can do it. All three have perfect anticipation and they can play it both left and right excellently.

"You watch, when Klaassen plays from that position for Ajax, the tempo increases immediately. Moreover, he rarely loses possession."

he is one off the best footballers to play the game. Why are we crying about his price. give him a chance.

Anyone got a GIF of that fantastic run and piece of play when he shot into the side netting? Rooney-Klaassen-DCL-Klaassen
