Something I agree with you. Davies is probably our most effective midfielder. And Klaasen should be competing for his place with Rooney or Sandro, with Davies behind

To me, he's a stand in for Davies or Rooney. I dont think he dislodges anyone from starting...or, rather, he shouldn't dislodge anyone.

having watched this guy play in a few friendlies and the Europa league games and then stoke... im not sure what his qualities are. He doesn't seem particularly creative, he does seem to get stuck into challenges, although we have gana and schneiderlin for that.

I'm just confused as to what he offers. As much as I don't want him to be, he looks like a downgrade on Barkley at this stage. But can someone please enlighten me and tell me what Klassen can bring to our team and what his qualities are.

I can't believe the stick this lad is getting after only a few games. He will be an important player for us this year. We are fighting on four fronts this year so Davies will also play a big part.

If any midfield player hasn't lived up to expectations yet this season it's schneiderlin for me and that's because he doesn't need to play so deep with gana in the team.

Schneiderlin's passing range is much better though, hence making him a better deep lying player. Gana covers the pitch better which is why he's box to box.

I honestly think we could do with just Schneiderlin and Gana at CM, freeing up Rooney as a #10.

I also think he's the one at risk. Rooney/Sigurdsson = 100% guaranteed starters. Sandro you assume turned down offers as he was told he'd be starting games for us. Klaassen won't play right of a midfield attacking three = no room for him in the side, unless one of Gueye (player of the year behind Lukaku) or Schneiderlin (not happening - big money signing in Jan on huge wages) is dropped. That's also notwithstanding Davies who I also reckon is better than Klaassen.

asking the same questions myself. sig possibly used like barkley was last season as a wide attacker, with klaassen attacking midfield? swansea used gylfi out wide a fair bit iirc
