He’s played 280 minutes of football for us, staggered over a dozen plus games. He’s not in his 3rd year. It’d be nice to actually see a settled team and formation before going for everyone’s throat

Thing is mate, his minutes are so low because he's been subbed in nearly every game he's played. He's started 8 games for us and finished 2. He's been hauled off at half time more than any player I can remember and the only contribution to my mind that he's made was that interception at City.

In his defence, I thought he looked miles better as the pace of our play picked up towards the end of the first half. It's not hard to expect a player who's spent years at Ajax in a team with a fast passing style of play (bar the year with De Boer) in a technical-heavy league to struggle to come to our team of cloggers in a league with more physicality. For me, he's in a similar situation to Sandro - low on confidence, adapting to the league, in a side that doesn't play to his strengths, will improve

There's definitely more to him that we've seen so far but it doesn't help that he, at times, fails to even get the basics right.

As others have said, he had a mare in the first 25-30 mins but improved along with the rest of the team as the first half closed out.

I've said it before, he's Ajax through and through and unless we start playing that way then he'll just take longer to acclimatise.

Mate, I’m not denying that’s hes struggled massively with the adaption, he’s looked awful in games. My main concern was the abuse he got after 2 minutes of the games..2 minutes and those toxic rats were on his back.

Evertonians now seem to feed off each other for negativity, i said it to another poster about Gylfi being next in line for the Home abuse before Christmas. It looks like it’s already happened with the video of someone shouting “shithouse” at home when he’s taking a corner

Oh yeah there's defo plenty of blerts, especially at the match. I actually shouted "get off his f####ng back ye knobheads" when there were moans after 2 mins like you say.

just feel sorry for the lad, but one thing in his favour, even though he made a hash of it the first ten mins or so, he didn't hide, he got stuck in a few times, and as @Tilling said there as the tempo picked up he looked better, still holding out hope! (but isn't that an evertonian trait haha)

backed him at first despite his slow start, said he needs time it will click, but last night was a whole new level of bad, I mean there is bad and there was last night, had about 10 touches of the ball in the half and 9 of them must have given it away, and he missed a chance he should have done a lot better with.

take him out the firing line for a few weeks completely, see if he recovers because it's not gonna get any better for him at the moment

if he is worth 24 mill how much is ross worth?

Started to throw in a few decent passes late on in the half. There is no defending his general play but, as I always do, i'll defend the lad based on the wider context.
-He's relatively young
-Brand new to the team
-Brand new to the country
-The entire team is struggling

I have faith he will come good. Just needs protecting a bit, bringing on for some cameos and slowly rebuild his confidence.

He did hide.

Someone get his touch map for that half. I'm sure Pickford touched the ball more than him

Not counting the games prior to Stoke, he's actually completed 432 minutes in 9 appearances in all competitions.

I actually thought starting him last night in a must-win game - after not completing a full 90 minutes since the Sunderland game - wasn't exactly fair on him.

He's still finding his feet and trying to acclimatise to the game in the UK, as too is Sandro Ramirez.

They're both struggling to make sufficient impression partly as a result of nerves (?) and a constantly changing team/formations while Koeman tries to figure to his best starting eleven - they'll need a bit of time both of them, and sections of our crowd can be brutally unforgiving.

If results keep going against us, neither are likely to get the kind of time needed to really settle in and they could up becoming bit part players
