David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

I remember that after Martinez, but it just feels wrong. Apparently Joe comes down the changies at half time every game - I wonder who gives the team talk or tactics because even after half time we are still set up wrong.

You would think that having, Royal, Unsworth, Ebbrell and Dunc in the changies that there would be a bit of a rocket put up the players behinds about what it means playing for this club.

The players aren't playing for Unsy, thats clear - they are enjoying the piggy back relays though.
I see this alot, do modern day players care about that? Some older fella telling them how great the club is and "back in my day." Who cares if it's a club steeped in history etc? They don't care about that.

What have we done in 20 years? I honestly couldn't care less if we didn't have a single ex pro there to explain how great the club is. I'd rather have a bunch of coaches who care about the future than the past.

I think I mean from the point of view that they should be able to show a little bit of passion and at least get the players psyched up a bit - looking at them on the bench they are like a sack of dead frogs. They dont need a history lesson they need a rocket up their arse.

The only time I realised they where awake was when Unsworth got out the smaller piece of paper ever to probably write down his shopping list, because if he was writing tactics he needed a bigger sheet of paper then what he had.

That's a great point
The other point is Unsworth may and probably gets respect from the under 23s as he is on a better wage than them - he has stepped up and failed which is sad to see - does it look like the players are playing for him or the club?
I think at first yes - then they realise he aint getting the job so they are not even playing for their shirt!
As for defensive coaches, what ever they are doing our defence is a shambles as is our midfield and attack - the only game we have had a clean sheet is day one of the prem a 1-0 win v Stoke, and at half time V man city when we were winning 1-0 and that is it!
appalling under both managers this season!

Maybe he has really tiny handwriting?

It doesn't help that Jags and Williams are both past it and Baines best days are long gone but equally they aren't being helped by the coaching. Keane left Burnley with United, The RS and numerous other teams interested. He looked a class act the first couple of games but has become as much of a liabiltiy as the others. Somewhere along the way we've just stopped doing the basics and that comes from the management

But he hasn't done any of that?

We neither kick or rush. We just stand there.

So true. I watched us yesterday and our intensity for example when trying to win the ball back is the worst in the premier. We stand off and the odd individual goes and makes an attempt now and again. Jags attempts to stop the 2 crosses for thoses goals yesterday is a prime example. Its a half assed attempt. Its not 100 per cent.

The team dont work as a unit to win back thw ball back.

Look at every other team and their work rate and effort is far greater.

We have been the same since pre seasin in martinez second season and it has become the norm for us that martinez koeman and unsworth have not been able to fix it.

Everton a team with no intensity.

Our clean sheet department I outlined is appalling so it's been like this all season , and getting worse - no replacement left back purchased aging players you pointed out agreeable - it was a car crash waiting to happen!

We hoof it aimlessly and don't even rush yeah tbf. There is certainly no football being played. All his comments in the press are about effort, zero about quality.

Well we lack both right now.

The hoofing is purely down to lack of movement. It drives me mad, players get the ball, look for an option and everyone just stands there marking themselves out of the game. We had something mad like 60% passing success yesterday at one point, now I am not into stats but that is shocking really for a top flight side.

You can even see it at throw ins. They don't even move a few yards to give an option. Honestly I would keep about 5 of our team right now.

The fact Walsh still has a job shows how usless the board are. We spoke a big game in the summer about ambition, could you imagine Utd, Cheslea or that lot standing for such incompetence?

We did that for many seasons under Moyes finished one place above relegation one season!
