Sad to see Tennant leave myself. I really enjoyed his tenure as the Doctor. Welshman Russell T. Davies is also succeeded by Steven Moffat as head writer. Moffat has done some good work in this new reincarnation. The Empty child and Silence in the Library were two of my favourites.

Will the new fella keep up the excitment?

Yup I'm sad to see Tennant leave as well, he's been awesome. Not sure how good Matt Smith will be, but he's a graduate from my uni so I'll give him a chance (y)

That new guy looks like his face has melted and then been remade in a factory.

In a nice way of course. I'm just glad it wasn't Alan Davies - I would have been thoroughly annoyed.

His face did look a little freaky. The geronimo bit was a bit over the top as well. But I'll reserve judgement until I see him in action a bit.

Tennant was never better when he played a sex change barmaid/man in Rab C Nesbit, I'd have given it one

Really can't warm to Dr Who. I saw Tennant play Hamlet without expecting too much based on his Dr Who stuff but he was very impressive and it just underlined what could be done with some quality writing. Unfortunately I find much of the writing in Dr Who cringeworthy.

I am in sympathy with you on the writing aspect. I think Moffat will be a step up from Davies whom I thought was looking a little stale.

Avatar the movie had plenty of eye candy but lacked a significant cliff hanger plot to it. I have high hopes for the future penmanship but I was a big fan of Tennant and he made the part his own it greives me to have another reincarnation as I was feeling comfortable with him in the leading role. But I suppose change is necessary.

This is true, i gave up watching Dr Who, cause it can be very rubbish.

What, Dirk Kuyt is the new Doctor, what's that all about.

actually, I did watch some episodes when it was Tom Baker and later Peter Davison, the series was effectively over for me once Sylvester mcCoy took over in 1987 or thereabouts.

and they introduced a female sidekick, those Cybermen used to make me hide behind the couch, and the Daleks, kind of nefarious when you're six years old but it doesn't work once you get to a senisble age.

They even brought out a book by Terry Nation in the 1970's on how to communicate with a Dalek (if you ever encountered one)

Exterminate!

pineapple on pizza?

I haven't watched Dr Who since Jon Pertwee regenerated into Worzal Gummage. He's still the only actor I associate as the doctor.

I think Tom Baker is the only true Doctor Who, that's who I grew up with, (not literally speaking)

Pertwee was a little too soon, but he did make a decent Gummidge.
