2025/26 David Moyes

Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Carlo back after the WC.

Highly experienced and knows the league, which we know they like from their Roma appointments.

Tactically adaptable - can play counter-attacking or on the front-foot. Would be a good bet to sort out the lousy home form, while not sacrificing the excellent away record.

Good draw for players.

Is available in the summer, and was making cooing noises in our direction not so long ago.

Not a long-term appointment, but then neither is Moyesy.

Ancelotti produced our worst ever home PL campaign. Admittedly that was the season without any fans but it was still worrying that we lost to so many poor teams at Goodison that season.

Would be interesting to see what he could so second time round though and without the absolute yarddogs of Siggurdson Davies and Keane down the spine.

This is why I am not overly concerned about the home form.

It is obvious that the squad is mentally strong, given our away form. They know their jobs and can perform them to a high level. The difference at home is small margins. At least one top quality attacking full back and it could make all the difference, for the necessary mentality change at home and being on the front foot more, with the ball.

The players did sow that they can dominate the ball and create chances, in the 2nd half on Monday. In all the games I have watched at home, there have been chances created and even a few 50/50 calls that have not gone our way. There are signs, if you want to look for them, that we are close to being a balanced side home and away.

Stability & increasing our profile. 👍

It's a small sample size but he only lost 1 game with fans in the stadium under Carlo (league cup 1/4 final against Man U with something like 2000-4000 fans).

But honestly though, he'll end up back at Real Madrid.

Why am I reading Ancelotti's name? Do people want him walking out on us again as soon as a bigger club flashes their undies?

Much as Ancelotti is a great manager he is not a long appointment, but I guess no manager is.

Of those available in the summer I would be trying for Pocettino, think Spurs were crazy to fire him off. He is a coach rather than a manager & that is a good direction of travel. Also developed young players which is the model we are allegedly pursuing.

Dunno about Poch, he might of lost himself in the wilderness since spurs.
He's probably been done in singing the national Anthem every 5 minutes over there..

In fairness he flounced off to the biggest club in the world that he already had a strong relationship with. I'm inclined to believe him when he says that's the only club he'd leave for.
Of the sixteen I mentioned, only Armstrong and Dibling are very young but both have plenty of experience to be part of one of his squads.
As for big name players, I absolutely loved watching James play for Everton, that's what it's all about.

Not another 3 seasons of Moyes stabilizing the club.
😱
I'm not Moyes out like West Ham fans were,
Nor me, but neither was i a Moyes in
I just think we can do better.
Picking 'Mr Better' is the hard part
