2025/26 David Moyes

We’re talking up Brentford now

They are 7th in the league despite you predicting, as you do every year, that they would struggle against relegation. They are a proper well run club with a top class modern recruitment set up and they have kicked on and improved under their new manager. They play great football and picked up one of the best centre forwards in the league for the same price we got Beto for.

Moyes either signed off on all these players or he didn’t. From what we know Kinnear has said, it sounds like he was part of the process and had a veto on which players came in.

I just don’t think this whole ‘these players aren’t ready’ will wash when he’s signed off on them. We didn’t have to buy Aznou, we didn’t have to buy Dibling, or Barry, or Rohl, or Alcaraz there were other players available.

he seems to be acting like Alcaraz wasn’t his buy and he doesn’t really want him, Aznou wasn’t a first team signing, Dibling and Rohl were bought by the club and aren’t ready for PL football, and he’s been left with no option but to play Barry.

These are his players, his signings. It worries me that Ndiaye is still our best wide player, Garner Gana Iroegbunam are trusted over Alcaraz and Rohl, and all of Mykolenko Coleman Garner and Patterson played left back before Aznou.
I dont see the point in constantly saying the manager picked these players. He might not have asked to veto signing them, but that doesn't mean he picked them or put together the list of targets. I just find it hard to believe these players were all Moyes first choice signings.

I still don't know if we are identifying the right players in the first place because we keep signing the wrong players.

We would have been 7th if we had won and we are not a good team.

Their away record this season had been really poor so conceding 4 goals is pathetic to be honest.

Before today, they hadn't won away at anyone outside the relegation zone. They aren't that good.

We’ll see where they finish then won’t we.

I watch them play and they look like a good football team to me. That Thiago is the second top scorer in the league, he was before today as well.

This was you under the previous manager

‘Expecting us to beat the likes of Ipswich and Southampton is not expecting the earth is it? Or Fulham and Brentford at home.

It’s not January 2023 anymore. We got 48 points last season and have strengthened the starting XI this summer, we are a mid table team. I know that puts pressure on the manager to deliver and he really doesn’t like that, but it’s just tough really. He is one of the better paid managers in the league and I keep getting told on here what an amazing miracle worker he is, so he should be able to deliver it.’

I mean you can just swap the names and it’s pretty much the same situation (give or take 100 mill invested in the squad of course)

But now all of a sudden Brentford play great football.

From ‘no excuses’ to ‘Brentford are 7th’

Embarrassing

They were 1 point above us before the match, with a much better form record. I'm not defending this poor result and poor game management from Moyes mind.

Brentford are a better team now than the one that finished 16th that season that you’re referencing there. I know it’s difficult for you to come to terms with after predicting their relegation for the 4th year running, but it is what it is.

You don't half post a lot more in here after a loss than a win my friend.

He's an excellent player but I don't believe they are a great team. They are as mid table a team as it gets, similar to us.

We were a mess today. The manager had a shocker and we had lots of players who were miles off it. We can't win games when manager and players are both well below par.

Moyes generally sets us up to do well away from home. We look pretty solid as a unit. At home, when the onus is on us to dictate play, we get found out. We need to be far more aggressive in our general play. We've conceded nearly 50% of our goals this season in three home games, against teams who were below us in the table. The mindset at home is too negative, and that's on the manager.

They are much better than us at home, but their away record isn't good. I dont think conceding 4 to a team who struggle to win on the road is an acceptable performance.
