2025/26 David Moyes

Our home performances and results aren't close to good enough. Conceding 4 to a poor Brentford side is embarrassing.

I dont hear enough urgency to stop these kind of embarrassing results. I dont see enough upset from the manager and players after these results.
Massive inquest on the pitch when we concede the first there today as if they were really up for it...then they fell apart like an ale house team.

Just charlatans most of them. Never good enough for this club.

Mentally weak players with zero pride.

…ha, ha, just because you think somebody is doing a terrific job doesn’t mean you have to make excuses for him when you think he gets things wrong.

I know we were down to the bare bones but I didn’t think the half-time change was nearly as effective as those he made when we were 1 down at home to Palace. Indeed, he could have changed things earlier. I thought we were very much in today’s game at 0-1, I think he missed a trick.

I cannot believe, how our old man treated this boy. Insisting playing JOB as right back with NO support at all, leaving him completely isolated with 2-3 Brentford-players all the time. What a frustrating night, for a young boy who needs to be guided - no matter the cost.

We all now, he is not a typical fast dribling winger that takes on 1:1. Hes way more technical in his style (like Cole Palmer), and he NEEDS people around him to play in small ares, between the lines and a supporting full back who can overlap.

If David Moyes doesnt defend him in media, he's letting everyone around him down and sweeps his responsibility underneath the carpet.

It’s almost like key players are out!
Yawn. Every time there's a win you are in here crowing about how it's all down to the genius of David Moyes. Every time we lose it's just a list of excuses. We had all of our players out, more than today in fact, against Forest and we managed a performance. If you can't see that we're worse at home than away, or if you don't think that that is something the manager of the club should sort out, then you are a crazy person. We got battered by Spurs and Newcastle at home with only Branthwaite missing, so.....?

….my view too, we were outnumbered. I actually wondered if he’d match them at half-time, go 3 at the back but whatever he did to try and redress the balance was forlorn with them scoring those two early killer goals in the 2nd half.

They were bright, well organised and a lot sharper than us.
We conceded those goals because Moyes decided that we needed one less player in midfield in the second half. It was a bizarre tactical decision.

We’re sitting here in 2026 after outing 100 million plus into transfers, and if all the players are fit Everton’s first 11 still includes Coleman, Tarkwoski, Mykolenko Gana. Keane is also next cab off the rank if Branthwaite is injured which he often is.

I didn’t disagree with prioritising attacking signings over defensive ones in the summer but I just don’t buy these convenient arguments of ‘we’re actually not much better because the new players are rubbish’ ‘the manager didn’t buy them’ ‘Calvert Lewin and Doucoure are big misses’ ‘there’s not much between Lindstrom Harrison and Dibling

We either have to question what on earth the recruitment team were doing buying players no better than ones who were some of the worst in our entire pl history. Or we need to ask why we can’t get more out of them.

But fundamentally I come back to the same point that year after year rolls by, window after windows and Everton in the premier league still arrogantly assume that we dont need a right back, Keane will do as backup as we wont get injuries at CB, it’s ok to start a 35 year old every week in midfield because the fans like him, and McNeil is a genuine attacking option worthy of a squad place. Also we’ll just roll out 4231 every single week regardless of who the manager is and just play the exact same nonsense. Sit deep, slow shuffling nothing passive football hoping for a knockdown in midfield or for Grealish to do something.

That’s not even a pop at Moyes. Manager after manager has done it. We had one season under Moyes when he went 4141 and caught the league by surprise in 04/05, one season under Roberto In 13/14 and 3 months under Ancelotti where they tried something different but everything else since I can remember watching Everton has just been throw the players out in 4231 and just punt some three quarter ball down the channel and see what happens. Forest and West Ham have had more styles of football in half a season than we’ve had in about 25 years

The recruitment was rubbish and our squad isn't strong enough

We spent about 100m on Barry Dibling Aznou and Rohl. None of them are good enough to start regularly.

Moyes also got it horribly wrong today.

Multiple things are true at the same time. We need to be doing better at home but we overspent on some rubbish players. Recruitment has to hugely improve to get us moving forward.

There’s too much anti Moyes rhetoric in here tonight, where’s the pro Moyes brigade to even things up. We need balance restoring to the force via ppg projections etc.
Problem with calling it square is, when we're good it's easy. When we're poor it's rough going. Has to be able to take the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and meet victory and defeat as the imposters they are.
Having read and not realised from the radio comms, McNeil central might be why damsgaard had the keys to the city the north west the entire northern hemisphere.
They passed us to death today. 2-4 is flattering. I'll reinforce it here again, Thiago should have had two hat tricks today. They were that good, and we were that bad.

I’m just not convinced they are rubbish. Barry has 3 in last 6 games and has hit double figures in La Liga. He’s got pace, height, and can finish with both feet and link play.

Dibling was considered one of the best prospects out the Southampton academy. He was valued by them as a 100 mill player as a teenager and has been through all the England youth set ups.

Can’t really say for Aznou but again he was in the systems at Barcelona and Bayern and played in la Liga.

Rohl has pace, height and physicality and has been in the German youth set up and played well in the Bundesliga.

Now it’s just a given fact that they’re not good enough for a bottom half PL team?

Dibling and Rohl are being yanked around in fits and starts. Rohl has come on in about three different positions. Dibling gets hooked the second he’s not doing well so as soon as he makes one mistake in a match he starts over compensating because he knows he’s getting yanked. He should have stayed on today and been told to turn up in the second half, instead he’s off and Rohl is shoved right wing?

These lads have far more talent than the likes of Harrison Lindstrom McNeil Doucoure Maupay Rondon
