2025/26 David Moyes

I really find these disgraceful comments tbh, no Everton manager should be coming out with such [Poor language removed] and if they do they shouldn’t be in a job much longer.
That's just why I have always had doubts about Moyes,
He did a good job last season but for me he has a glass ceiling.
He just seems to accept we havnt a chance agaist anybody half decent.
The wolves game, the way he throws players under the bus , just remind me of why I was frustrated with him first time around.
Players must be made up listening to those remarks.
We rarely play decent football for more than a third of a match,
Every manager in the country knows what formation we are going to play and who will be playing so can set up to counter us.
He will get to the end of the season, possibly next, but hopefully we start looking for a manager who wants to start looking up in the football world.
The owners will let him stabilise us then will wave goodbye to him , going forwards if they have any ambition at all.

As scathing as I have been towards Moyes during the previous drop on form , I was actually trying to extend him some goodwill and was foolishly optimistic about yesterday's match. I know the midfield options were very limited after the gana debacle , his unwillingness to incorporate Alcarez from the start as a number ten or in a midfield 3 but as a disadvantage with Dewsberry hall positioned too advanced. The same issues that plagued us before the Fulham match seemed to resurface.

People have questioned the ability of DIbling and Aznou, as they have been rarely utilized on the pitch , but that's just Moyes he's incredibly wary of younger players, and I don't think he's keen in general on making subs , if he could play the starting 11 obviously that would include gana without a red card he'd opt for that approach.

I was pleased with his ability to adapt for the Fulham game but it seems he is reverting back to his restrictive tactics, those disconcerting post match comments once again demonstrate his defeatist mentality that creates a barrier in winning matches. Tues he has an opportunity to create a response towards yesterday's calamity or just add to the misery.

Cant argue with any of this mate, a really balanced argument.

Ultimately, after 25 years of management, he is still managing st the highest level, so why would he change it?

You see glimpses like we did against Fulham, but then Newcastle & Tottenham happen. His own caution is and always will be his biggest hindrance and after 25 years, i doubt that will ever change.

I am at an advantage/disadvantage, I listened to the match on the radio and they called it pretty straight. BBC Radio Merseyside (Stubbs + presenter) called the match live exactly how Moyes did in this 2 minute 28 second interview.
He didn't throw Tim Iroegbunam under the bus, even when prompted. He called newcastle physical and fast and better than us. On those three things that's the truth.
I hope Moyes isn't copping stick for being honest?
If he'd stood there and talked about fantastic moments of intensity, phenomenal play and passion, after us getting butt slammed for 90 minutes then I'd say he was well out of his depth.

Joelinton £40m
Guimaraes £40m

Took on versatility CM James Garner £9m and Tim Iroegbunam psr swap zero fee. Lets call a mismatch where we see 'em.

In fact, lets do it in full.

Pickford £30m.........................................Ramsdale loan
O'Brien £18m...........................................Livramento £32m+£8m
Tarkowski Free.......................................Thiaw £30m
Keane £25m...........................................Burn £13m
Mykolenko £18m ..............................Hall £28m
Garner £9m............................................Academy product
Tim Iroegbunam psr dodge 0....................................Joelinton £40m
Ndiaye £15m..........................................Guimaraes £40m
D-Hall £27m..........................................Elanga £55m
Grealish Loan........................................Woltemade £65m
Barry £27m............................................Barnes £38m

There's your difference, and their side has been together as a unit and playing more games (cup and euro) than ours. They subbed Schar (£3m) Tonali (£65m) gordon (£40m) Willock (£25m) Ramsey (£40m). They had more cash sat on the bench to be then subbed on (£173m) than we spent in spite of losses this summer. On the bench subbed on. Want to know the difference, get the accountants on and weigh up the differences.

Stubbs said on the radio yesterday it'll take 3 more windows to get the squad right from here, and that doesn't include January windows 'cos they're crap.

Wise words.

However, the last thing we need is to give Moyes a load of money for players, only for a new manager to come in and not fancy the players that Moyes has brought in and hey ho, we`re in the exact same position as we have been for the duration of the Moshiri reign.

So, either stick with Moyes and back him or identify his replacement right now and start sounding him out for the Summer.

The thing is, an average manager parachuted into a job with an expensive squad waiting for him tends to do ok. forrest spurs. It's the exceptions that stand out - amorim. A certain nonsense fraud took a Moyes side with Lukaku added up top on a great season until he dismantled the defence.
Wanted Tete, wanted McGinn, wanted that Spanish RB in a swap. Tried.

In terms of last transfer fee and squad valuations - we were 19th with only Ipswich having less. That was even including the last fee paid for the likes of Lindstrom, Broja, Harrison. We went on with Sean Dyche to earned the points to finish 12th then in his only full season.

We've since spent a few bob and a £100m player in Grealish.

No excuses. If Newcastle are that much better than us, then setup accordingly.

The reality is, as has been the case for decades - Moyes will broadcast knife to a gunfight at every opportunity because it's to his benefit, at the detriment of the club.

Hes done it everywhere. It's who he is. He joined Man Utd, a team that just pissed the league and was saying a point at struggling Newcastle would be a good result. He joined Sunderland who had 10 years in the Prem and before a ball was kicked, declared it would be a miracle if he kept them up.

He is who he is - for me, he removes hope. I've accepted years of pragmatism and taking our medicine with Dyche - if we ever want to create genuine good times, some memories then he's not the man. Over a decade of watching Everton with him as manager has more that consolidated my opinion on the man.

We had the opportunity to send a real bolt through the club last summer - new owners, new stadium. Instead, we went with knife to a gunfight mentality.

Palace don't with an FA Cup with Roy Hodgson. He's our Roy Hodgson.

We need to change him this summer.

The haters all quiet and hidden on Monday, out in force on Saturday.

No matter your vitriol, he is better than the previous few incumbents and is here for a limited time.
I can't speak for others but I've harangued him when I felt his tactics and even mentality has been negative but I've also applauded him for the results against Fulham and man united. Ultimately I just want the best for this club if he is able bring that to fruition so be it , at the same time if I witness a continuous pattern of flawed strategies I'm going to call him out for that as well

No, he isn’t being blamed for being honest. Hope that helps.

Mentally, Moyes still lives in Bill Kenwright's boardroom, where plucky underdogism was the order of the day. Thing is, when you have billionaire owners, a magnificent new stadium, and start signing people like Jack Grealish, that kind of raggedy-arsed, poor mouth, expectation management no longer flies.

Moyes will always find a reason to big up the opposition when he hits his glass ceiling or is forced to leave his comfort zone. He was the same at United, bigging up City, utterly forgetting who United were and what was possible with them. He never saw Everton as a properly big club because we never acted as one under his patron, Kenwright. It remains to be seen if the new overlords are similarly lax when it comes to ambition and standards. Maybe they are. Maybe Moyes knows the field he's ploughing...

Appreciate your reply but unfortunately we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this. Rather than realism he just seems to be making excuses to me, he could say they were the better team on the day without making them out to be a super team out of our league.

Cross fingers after Bournemouth we’ll both be praising his press conference!
That's fair
And yes, Bou away is another monkey we need to get off our back. Let's hope he wins it and then sticks to what he said about those 3 tough games being done and shows a bit more arrogance before forest

Looks like you found Moyes’ teamtalk…

I think your analysis holds more water if Newcastle weren’t below us in the table and yet to win an away game since last season, having been recently beaten very comfortably by an abysmal West Ham.

I think it was always Moyes more than Kenwright. Always thought that.

Soon as Moyes left, Kenwright was throwing Martinez under a bus a bit by declaring Martinez promised him Champions League. How was that for expectation management?
