2025/26 David Moyes

He's had his free six months and some wouldn't even give him that.

It's gonna be Thunderdome scenes in here by September.
It's not quite there yet, but a few more typical poor decisions to add to leeds, the rs and wolves and it might.
He needs a couple of  convincing results to take the heat off...But then again that could be said about a dozen premier league managers.

Moyes Mk I (2002) initially had a clean slate...though a few Preston did warn us
But by say 2009/10 this had morphed into 3 factions...estimates of actual percentages may vary
1) Can do no wrong
2) Yes he's a bit of a worry but does well considering he has to operated under restrictive financial circumstances
3) He has no concept of must win. He sees - don't lose.

Fast forward to Moyes MkII (2025)
1) He got his mojo back...and then some...at West Ham until they got ideas above their station - All Hail The Moyesiah
2) Considering he only had to be better than Dyche He's doing ok
3) He has no concept of must win. He sees - don't lose.

1x 8yrs Vs 1 x 8months...that's the modern world for you.

If he's still here this time next year he'll have done well - or is it that TFG have done badly.

As always with Le Ev - more questions than answers.

This was always going to happen purely because of our history and familiarity with Moyes. It's why I wasn't keen on him coming back, because it was never going to be a proper fresh start, everyone already has an opinion on Moyes and to a large extent whatever happens will just reinforce their existing idea. He's a good manager and he's doing a good job, the reason for the discussion is not because of what's happened in the last couple of weeks, it's because of what's happened in the last 20 years.

Some also have very obvious agendas to push too.

Even if we were in the Champions League places and still in both cups, they`d still be looking for and finding fault in either Moyes / the players he`d signed or both.

Note also they way they pile in on both the owners and Moyes = agendas.

Was ever thus. The usual mix of people who are more concerned with being right and those who are just anonymous 'evertonians'.

Think he was the right man to come back.
This season and next he will steady the ship hopefully.
Do I think he is the right man to get us a trophy and go onwards after that no sure?
Dosnt seem to have that just get at them in his locker agaist the bigger teams.

He managed to play dirge football and get Europe and win a cup with West Ham

We got the most bipolar fan base ever we have a good game and we’re world beaters we have a bad game and it’s suicide watch again.

Why do folks on here expect us to win every match especially after the last few years and what we witnessed.

Madness
It's because we are inconsistent and our players are inconsistent. Mykolenko is great in some games, but in others he's diabolical. Ndayie is great in some games, but in others it's like he's playing a in a testimonial and he doesn't care at all. Tim can't spell his surname, looks mostly crap in most games. Beto is completely inconsistent, same with McNeil he looks great in some games, other games he's useless. RS are hardly set world alight, won every game by one goal. In all games bar ours they have scored late. Sometimes you just get luck, I didn't think we were that great at Palace last season, but we took our chances. Our issue is since Lukaku left we haven't had quality striker who can change games, when we don't play well we don't have somebody like Lukaku or Cahill to change game.

It's soul destroying reading this thread.

To a degree, yes, but it feels very premature to suggest this should be the case right now - this team is nowhere near as good as Moyes's best Everton side (2007 to 2009 or so), so we are probably at least a year away from the point where my expectations are that we go into any game thinking we can win

He's also said -from the very start of his latest tenure - he wants to get Everton competing back in the top 6 and in Europe every year.

That's hardly acting the under dog compared to the past 5 or 6 years. To say otherwise it's just a bit delusional

That's literally all online football fans. It Every club is the same

Well, that's the scary thing though, isn't it. Because you know what else has been the norm over that time? Us being largely crap.

It's almost like some posters enjoy the turmoil.

There is something in that mate - the drama has a bio-chemical response either positive or negative which people seek a hit for its either endorphins or adrenaline - when there is stability you get neither and is now considering boring or familiarity breeding contempt.

There is definitely blurred boundaries amongst the fan base of wanting to be entertained/drama and sport.

There is a whole bandwagon to the game now away from the actual games. Social media has poured petrol on it.

if Sean Dyche had given that press conference there’d be very different reactions to it.

It’s one thing mentioning avoiding relegation when you’ve had two points deductions and sell your best players every window. It’s another when you’ve had over 100 mill spent on the squad.
That annoyed me as did him saying Branthwaite is being missed as he could of filled in at left back against Wolves

He's just come accross as smug , swatting questions about Tuesday like it doesn't matter and doesn't see as any sort of setback.

Thought the hacks where way too timid with him.
" don't you think it was a great opportunity missed to progress David ?"

"Was it wise to send out a disjointed ,weakend team ie Coleman & McNeil in particular ?"

Then again he just says its his decision who plays and its not to be questioned.

Not doing himself any favours at all.

Eh? Since when did Dyche have to sell his best players every window?

He had point the deductions fair enough but let’s not give him extra points for things that didn’t happen.
