2025/26 David Moyes

As for the next run of games, I predict;
29th Sept - West Ham (H) W
5th October - Palace (H) W
18th October - Man City (A) L
26th October - Spurs (H) D
^ Wow look at that congestion, 3 games in October?! Just as well we rested treble winner Grealish and co.

Strap yourselves in, we're going all out for a magnificent 7th.

I'll be that was on Moyes' mind too - making it 4 games. If not that, then the *danger* of getting to the round after and having 5 or 6 games in November.

He's potty trained Everton to focus on the PL and 'survival'.

IMWT

Hahaha, hadn't even twigged that.

Thank GOD we rested him. We can't go expecting him to play so much...
We also only have 1 more midweek game before Christmas . Our schedule couldn't be any lighter

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I've had my fair share of daft opinions. But in this case, I am very clear in my mind that there are no sensible arguments in favour of heavy rotation of the squad.

It's not about expectation either. Cup competitions aren't complicated and you take it game by game and on a given day you have a chance.

Yesterday was a very winnable game but the manager decided to drastically reduce our chances of success through his selections.

He didn't take the game seriously. He didn't give us the best chance of success. That is inexcusable regardless of projects, or how good or bad we are.

There is no bigger picture here to discuss. The manager simply gave us next to no chance of winning a winnable game.

I don’t understand that logic - it’s like saying the league isn’t complicated just go and play every game and win - it’s the same thing! I don’t think we can in the PL either.

Personally I tho k the players who were picked are better then they showed last night mate - I thought they let the club down - I hope so anyway there was 90 mill + euro in the team.

Wolves made more changes than us last night, so I think rotation and its influence is fairly moot! It’s was arguably back up vs back up!

So by that logic we could have played our best team last night and still lost.

Glad you cleared that up. May as well close the thread now. No conversation to be had.
What were the chances of Everton's team that handed them a football lesson three weeks ago coming off the pitch with a 2 goal defeat would you say?

He looked and sounded well hacked off last night mate.

I think that the end of at least two here.

I think he was expecting more realistically, he may have got that wrong, but I think that surprised and disappointed him.

To be fair I was disappointed with almost all the players last night - they are better than that.
I gave him till Christmas - if his team selections get worse - he will be gone before that IMO -

So why are people moaning about going out of a tin pot cup?
Look at last years winners of the cups with their open top bus parades if that was us we would be embarrassed and laughed at.
We should be higher up the league and qualifying for the elite competitions therefore keeping our better players for the league.
If we finish in these positions as a result of not overplaying the better players then it's a job well done but we won't know this until much later in the season.
Embarrassed and laughed at by who?

You’re saying you’d be ashamed to win a cup. Do we have to win 21 leagues and 6 European cups before we start celebrating winning trophies?

How and where are they getting any game time? The squad needs to play. It's not the 80s where you can get through a season with the same 11 every week.

Nope

You can play 5 or 6 good games, get lucky and avoid good opponents and win a cup

You need over 30 good games to win a league. So one is exponentially more difficult than the other and cant involve luck. You don't get to avoid good teams in the league.

Grealish is ineligible for 1 of those matches too.

He will play twice in October yet needed a rest yesterday

Make it make sense !!!

The only logic I ever use when it comes to us, I've ripped off from the Pet Shop Boys...

Every game I've ever done
Every game I ever do
Every ground I've ever been
Every ground I'm going to
It's depres-sin'

When players form dips.

5 subs per game.

You play yourself into the team, you don't get given carte blanche opportunity at the expense of the club/in a winnable cup competition.

Has McNeil done anything so far this season to decide he deserves a start? Coleman? Would we learn anything from them starting the game?

If you want to rotate/give some players an opportunity, do it as a couple of changes.

Not 7.

That’s what im more disappointed about last night, is that these young lads will have limited opportunities mate.

Also seems like there is now reluctance to not “play our most experienced players”.

People used to laugh at Dyche when he went on about PL ready.
