2025/26 David Moyes

You’re right, apologies I hadn’t noticed that the Bournemouth home game last year was in the cup not the league.

So we’re 3 points worse off than we were from his first 18 games last year. What a catastrophic collapse.
Apology accepted. Who said anything about a catastrophic collapse! i think a fair comment after spending £100m and having a worse half season performance is pretty disappointing.

It's always the question have we invested smartly in the situation we were in summer? Jep 100m is a good amount of money, but there is a catch we have over spent half of the budget on players (Dibling and Aznou) that don't seem to play a big role or haven't worked out yet (Barry) while others like KDH, Alcaraz and Grealish proved to be good signings.

You can't deny the fact that we looked incredibly thin yesterday. It's a squad that should be in reach of the top half with every player available, but as soon as there are 3-4 players out, especially if it's KDH, Ndiaye and Grealish.
I 100% agree we've spent poorly and that's on Moyes as well.

But as I said in the first place, form is a thing. After 16 games under Moyes last year we had 22 points. After 16 games this year we had 24. At the end of the day it’s just an arbitrary line being drawn as to where the form starts and ends, it doesn’t actually mean anything and acting like it does is just odd.

In recent years they've lost Olise, Eze and will lose Guehi for a cut price fee next month or for free in the summer. Granted, I'd love to have Munoz and Wharton but the rest of their squad is pretty meh. Sarr's alright, I suppose. Glasner's doing a cracking job there. I worry for Palace when Glasner goes (sorry @Alan Whittle). I suspect we couldn't attract him anyway, but pretending he's not any good is an odd position to take.

i didn’t say he wasn’t any good.

but he’s had better and got better attackers than us. if you wanna be a glasner boy that’s upto you

Well absolutely, but I always blame the whole group of recruitment, not only the manager.

100m couldn't fix everything, that's clear, another 100m at least needed. But it makes me annoyed that we spent that on players in recent years like Dibling and Chermiti that seem to have good talent, but aren't guys that can bring the squad further immediately. Good transfers, but wrong in the situation we are in ourself.

But the other side has also to be seen, it is an enormous challenging task (contract situations, lack of depth of quality) and 100m didn't seem enough for the situation Everton was. We had about 12/13 players at all by May.

Chermiti was just a bizarre piece of recruitment full stop. He isn't good enough for a bad rangers team.

Yeah of course it's really odd comparing half a season's performance with half a season's performance. And of course you're forgetting that the performance was also taking in goals scored, number of defeats etc. By your logic we shouldn't be making any comparison's!

Problem here is that Moyes insisted on scrapping the DOF role and wanted control of transfers, he also got his say in appointing some of the people like James Smith. Bottom line he has to take responsibility. Of course you're right £100m wasn't going to fix everything but when you've failed to address the main problems in the team and there's only KDH who's been a successful transfer so far then you've got a bit of an issue.

Needs to bin off the pedestrian slow build up football

It's horrible to watch and doesn't work
Wrong conclusion.

We dont need to be going back to his preferred lump it long style (that the club appear to be intent on him losing), we need to have better coaching to get more assured possession when we have our ball carriers unavailable.

Dinosaur football we dont want back in any hurry. Ild rather we played like yesterday and drew against a pony outfit like Burnley than go long ball and get all three points, because that style of football is low percentage football in the long run.
