2025/26 David Moyes

This is just basically Moyes is better than a load of poor managers who came after him, so we should be happy we have him. The guy isn't a great manager and his record of 2 trophies in a quarter of a century of managing bears this out, as does the season he bombed out at Man Utd. He's not going to win us a trophy and he ain't getting us back into the top 4 even if he's here for another 5 years. His recruitment when he has money to spend sucks. So frankly, what's the point in sticking with him past the summer?

I'm sorry but he hasn't won two trophies. Charity Shield is a glorified friendly.

He did win the Papa Johns Eurovision Belt with West Ham so will give him half a trophy for that.

"Keep Moyes or we'll be relegated".

<looks at history books....Everton last relegated 1952>
You did say that if we sacked Dyche we would be a cert to be relegated though.

There’s a whole lot more chatter in here than I expected from a narrow defeat to the league leaders.
I think it's because we've just lost two successive games where the opposition didn't need to get out of second gear. This whole not having a striker thing is wearing very thin with many fans who pay through the nose to support the team / in my case stay up until 5am to watch the games only to be left bitterly disappointed by the abject failure to sufficiently strengthen the squad when significant money was handed to the manager.

While I'm personally very happy we've jumped from relegation candidates to mid-table safety, 40 years (my entire life) of largely abysmal football - a small step up the table yet no threat at all of actually winning anything isn't anywhere near enough.

Were you expecting that this season?

Wasn't sure. But given the money that was invested and having seen the state of the squad still, can't help but feel we'll have missed a golden opportunity to qualify for Europe come the end of it.
Europe would be nice but putting the building blocks into place for next season and beyond is more important imo. It'll take time which seems to be a problem for a few on here

Only my opinion, but I think that target at the start of the season, would`ve been a season free of relegation fear, stabilisation and maybe a cup run, with anything else being an absolute bonus.

The squad is still wafer thin, we have two strikers who can`t score and don`t look like scoring and as a result, we`re totally reliant on key players for goals.

Now that those key players aren`t there, we`ve had no choice but to go back to " attritional " footy until we get these players back on the pitch.

Dibling still remains the real head scratcher though.

Europe is only a chance because of how oddly volatile the league has been so far. If you sat there in the Summer with large expectations, that’s on you for being far too greedy.

This is the thing really. 'Taking time' after 40 years of being a quite awful football club is so frustrating, especially since the Moshiri spending spree years, having seen clubs like Nottingham Forest qualify for Europe despite having been out of the Premier League 20-odd years, and Aston Villa, who were every bit as bad as us when we had Gerrard and Lampard respectively, Champions League regulars and now Premier League contenders with an excellent manager. Everton being the team still in transition, still coming nowhere near close to any domestic cups despite teams like Palace, Leicester, Newcastle, Wigan having won cups over the past 10 or so years... little old Everton not being capable of enjoying even this minor success - frustrating.

What are you talking about? There are hundreds of managers out there that would have us top 4 with the same squad, beating the top 6 week in week out and playing expansive football. Barry would be on 15 goals by now with a less cowardly dithering manager who knew how to manage strikers.

But Villa didn’t go immediately from Gerrard to being good did they and they spent a ton of money. We have had one window under the new owners. Jeez.
