2025/26 David Moyes

.
This for me is the key bit. He can’t rest on his laurels this time. The Friedkins won’t let him, and he’ll know it’s unlikely he has another 11 year stint ahead of him here. Whatever legacy he wants to leave at the club he needs to do it quickly, so he should be pushing Kinnear for every pound he can in January, pushing to get us into Europe, and then demanding better players in the summer to have a tilt at a trophy next season.
Thats why i couldnt forgive him for surrendering our League Cup chances to a very poor Wolves team.
If he was ever to bring a trophy to Everton this time round it was going to be a cup competition.
I felt on Saturday he was happy to lose 2-0 rather than take a risk of conceding more.
HIs mindset is all wrong

The team's identity so far this season has been built round players that carry the ball, and now with two out of three of them unavailable for a few weeks we'll have to see him find another way. Grealish cant be expected to shoulder their absence. And I dont see him pushing Grealish inside and playing Dibling and McNeil in the same way as we play Ndiaye and Grealish out wide.

He cant go with possession based play because that's about as anti-Moyes style as there is. It'll be a lot more playing off Barry and looking for the second ball. The fortunate thing is we play some favourable fixtures in the meantime after Arsenal: Burnley away we've done well there before; Forest away the same in recent seasons (play Beto against them); Brentford then Wolves at home. If there's a 'good' time to pick up injuries and have players unavailable because of international duty it's the next month.

Something smelling a bit fishy with this post..

Clever wording to build up expectations, whilst you are low on ammunition...

Forest away is the glaring part, hanging out the bait.

"Injuries" is the hidden device.
This is where you will come back too.

KDH and possibly Grealish shouldn't have been used carrying niggles.

110m failure in the squad strength, to cover these injuries.

Why did we bring in Rohl ?

Medical team should have Branthwaite fixed by now..

Lack of minutes to prepare the bench for these cases.
We knew Afcon was going to be a factor.

Moyes, ignorance to the above, will be the bat you start swinging..

You can't fool me Dave, I know your game..

The idea of making subs is to change the flow of a game and get it turned round if you're losing or if you're trying to consolidate - fairly obvious statement like. But Moyes uses them usually to go like for like and just double down on Plan A.

He just doesn't see the in-game decisions that need to be made. We have options on the bench but we need to go to different formations to utilise them.

Very revealing stat that is. 👏

Hold on.....

A month ago it was non-stop whinging about demanding that the expectation was top half and challenging for Europe. One I thought was a bit too ambitious for a team back off of constant relegation battles.

Now the fella has gone and done it and the same whingers and complainers are in here moaning that it's not good enough? Some of you plainly will not accept anything from him. Agendas everywhere.

He needs to bring in quality young players that can hit the ground running.

Not his ideal summer wishlist of experienced players who we wont be able to offload in 2 seasons like McGinn or Soucek and not injury prone players like Rohl

As we know his sub is always Beto/Barry which wont change much. Then typically he's put Alcaraz in a non-10 role and otherwise mostly used defensive players.

Its damage limitation or hoping the initial 11 can magically change the game when he doesnt change the tactics.

Were 4pts off 4th & 15th sitting in 9th place and about to play Arsenal.

Burnley A
Forest A
Brentford H
Wolves H

That takes us to Jan 7th where we expect to do business in the window and with a 2 week gap (FA Cup) until our next league game.

I wont go into what i think his errors have been this season but I do think that a huge amount rests on those 4 results.

There are 12pts there, get 10pts and we're not going to see (m)any complaints at all.

It could and should see superior players wanting to join in the window as well.

We’ll just go round and round in the same boring circle for as long as he’s here. Even if he somehow won the FA Cup, people would find caveats to it. Bottom line is there’s a divide in this fanbase and I’m really not sure if there’s any one manager that exists out there that could ever bring it together, maybe it’s just a symptom of social media and the way the world has gone. You must pick a side of the line at the start and battle anyone and everyone on the other side, the end result is absolutely nobody has changed their initial opinion and we’ve all just wasted a lot of time.
