2025/26 David Moyes

A bit simplistic from yourself too though... newly promoted team who are 4th after 10 games.
I’m not sure simplistic really fits for the point you’re trying to make but well done for trying. I’m not saying they’re rubbish, I’d have just said so if that was my point. They are a newly promoted side and it’s relevant. They don’t have an advantage of being a more settled side or being incredibly expensively assembled, but they look a lot better than us both tonight and in general. That’s worth commenting on.

That second half was crying out for the energy and positive play we’ve seen from Rohl in his cameos so far. Moyes just crossed his fingers and hoped that Sunderland wouldn’t score. Most managers in the Premier League make tactical changes and formation changes during games. Moyes could tell you 3 days ahead of a game what substitutions he’ll make and when, regardless of how the game unfolds.

He deserves a lot of credit for Jan to May.

Surprised how quickly he turned it round.

But this is why a lot of fans were worried about him coming back.

Very limited tactically, can't change the dynamics of a game.

I don't think a lot of players enjoy playing this type of football or his style of management.

We weren't going down last season.

Moyes coming in when he did meant he'd be there in the summer and beyond, which was in my view, a big mistake.

Ball out wide to Grealish or hoping Ndiaye's mazy brilliance hands us a goal, and that's all we've got.

It's not working. It cant work at this level. Moyes is a dinosaur and needs punting. I cant see it until the summer though, more's the pity.

We have some attacking talent here and a lot of mf aggression, but he's pissing it up against a wall.

I’m wavering. It’s not obvious what we are trying to do, other than stand back and hope Grealish or Ndiaye do something magical whilst everyone else stands completely motionless. Even when we have periods of domination, as we have had in every game, it’s all a bit random and never obvious how we will score other than a long ranger.

Hmmm

Moyes did amazing last season I don't think anyone can call him out but this season he's not the same Moyes. Too many worrying factors. We can see them easily, the players that came in that are not being played and those that are not being played like Alcaraz. I don't recognise this Moyes TBH.

If it wasn't for the fact he was Moyes, I'd be absolutely calling for his head.

I’m not saying we weren’t rubbish, also bit unfair to say they’re just a newly promoted side, they’d have gone second if they beat us.

All I’m saying is we can talk a lot about managers, systems, stats, etc. but on a base level if players are making such basic errors then it’s a problem with the player, not the manager. We had a manager today whose plan would’ve gotten a win if the players were remotely near the level.

This season in terms of ability we probably have the outright worst starting CB pairing in the league, and the worst 2 starting strikers in the league, the manger is not the problem.
Again though, it’s far too simplistic to say we’d have won if we’d scored after 28 minutes. A game is 90+ minutes long, saying the game plan worked because we COULD have been 2-0 after half an hour (but weren’t, and got battered for the next hour) is ridiculous. We could easily have been 2-1 down after 47 minutes by the same token.
