2025/26 David Moyes

…tbh, that’s a little bit of a wind up. I have to admit to being a little mischievous, largely to balance things up.

I’ve always thought the contract length is interesting and do wonder whether it’s as much as both parties want. I’m genuinely not certain if Moyes wants to be Manager beyond that point. I’m ambivalent on that, except it would mean we’re doing well if it is offered.

I do think he’s in a precarious position, certainly the knives are out if we don’t start well but I have it in mind that it’s similarly not taking much to see us be centrally involved in those European spots. Personally, I want us to go and be a threat playing away at top teams. Sadly, our home form let us down against teams we should’ve been beating.

Critical Success Factors; we need to progress into a European spot and have decent cup runs. I don’t think he’ll have much wiggle room with fans, the summer window is a dependency and I fear for him without a decent start.

From his perspective, he needs to understand it’s a long season and utilise the players he trusts. I don’t think he did that and I fear that’s in his DNA. Regardless, I think it’s likely Moyes won’t be in post next season, even if we do hit those CSFs.
TFG wanted to give him

….i wonder if that’s more about securing other ‘winger’ targets we’re linked with; Esmir Bajraktarevic & Dario Osorio.
Possibly but from a management standpoint I don’t think it sends a great signal to George “ I don’t like you well enough after 6 months of training to definitely exercise your option, I’ll see if I can get other choices in first and if those fall through we might make do with you”

…Martinez and his full backs might have looked great from a spectator point of view, but ludicrous if you you wanted to win football matches. If you want an example of how not to use FBs, just replay that last 30mins v Chelsea. ;)
Tell ye what though, playing a left back who cant pass/cross and a 6 ft 6 cb at rb who also cant do those 2 things is definitely the way to go about playing full backs, in your tactic book from when back passes were still allowed.

Thing is if the budget for transfers is crap because the owners focused on other other clubs we have to keep him or were done because we need a massive investment for a new manager to come in and take us forward.were as if there's no substantial money we have to keep this fella so we're not crapping ourselves last few games of the season.cant go through that stress again.. ambition wow feels like long time ago and fat head koeman blew it
