2025/26 David Moyes

That's a little bit unfair. The finances of the club at the time was dire and considerable board room turmoil was apparent over what to do about it. One, perhaps the only real, option was selling Rooney. Moyes was very upset when the sale went through ...
It's all a laugh and a joke now, though...

….its a podcast and he’s talking about something that happened almost 22 years ago, if he started crying in his hanky you’d criticise him for being soft
There's plenty more I would and do criticise him about... Softness doesn't come in to it.

I long for the day a non-geriatric former Everton player and "former" Everton manager speak in hushed tones and with awe on their days with Everton. These fellas are laughing at Kenwright's version. They know where the bodies were buried. Heck, they both were at various times! That was then, this is now.

We don't have to continue with Blue Bill's managed decline. As such, sack, Sack, SACK!

I can't wait to see the back of Moyes and I think Lampard might be a good choice again, done really well at Coventry and has gained a lot more experience since he left us last time.

? As far as I know there aren't any games in NC?
It is where the Scotland training camp is based, I was trying to think of any “behind the scenes” scouting for new players he could get as a pundit not available to him if he was just at home.

Scotland's national team is using the Atrium Health Performance Park—the official training facility of MLS side Charlotte FC in Charlotte, North Carolina—as their official Team Base Camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. [1, 2, 3]

I grew up watching the great team of 1970. I also had the privilege of witnessing our team of the 1980s which was one of the greatest teams in the history of world football, so I'm not an enormous fan of Moyes. But we were on the cusp of relegation when he came in.

Most of the games in which we fell short this season.... we were either the victim of poor refereeing decisions or we conceded late on due to tiredness.
But why was our team tired?

We went out of the cups very early and we never had any European games in the first place.

Almost every premier league team had more games than us and often more injuries too. Two of our better players went all the way in AFCON but Sunderland had 6 in the competition with two going through to the semi finals.

Moyes often relied on the same starters (generally older players), a low possesion style and few/late subs - I don’t think it unfair to say those are likely to have contributed to the tiredness seen.

Nothing symbolises the old , just get by - make do Everton than Moyes. He's so locked in the Kenwright past.

I can understand why TFG turned to him when Dyche packed it in and we were in real jeopardy.

However surely the new regime , with a still bright new shiny stadium want to make a statement, a break from the past and have a fresh start..

The fact that TFG are so disinclined to do so leads to the conclusion that they will look to flip us for a profit in a season or 2.
I can see what makes people go down this line of thought but I just can't see it myself.

I think its a lot more likely that they've just picked the wrong man in Kinnear, and Kinnear is giving them bad advice and is backing the wrong man himself in Moyes. Most likely thing to me right now is that they both get replaced halfway through next season.

TFG are the money, they're relying on Kinnear to get the football decisions right for them. Dan Freidkin is seemingly more interested in Hollywood movies than football, which is fine but then becomes all about who is your man on the ground who does know about football and can give you the right advice.

Brings into question as to why he was appointed in the first place, what was the thought process behind it.

Yeah that I'm not so sure about. Never really know what gives people that work in these kind of roles a good reputation in football. Iirc there was talk of him having a lot of corporate connections and playing a big part in all the new sponsorship deals we got.

But that has sweet f all to do football and picking/sacking managers. Probably a reason that Moyes has ended up with so much power. I know that Leeds fans did not like him at all and he certainly appears to have made some very poor choices there. Was him appointed Jesse Marsch I think?

Yes him and their director of football Victor Orta. He was a part of their horrendous badge change proposal as well.

Yeah terrible that. I do feel that at Roma TFG have shown they aren't afraid of swinging the axe. Imagine Kinnear has been telling them to stick with Moyes and the '2 window plan' so if it all goes tits up then its likely they will both be on the chopping block.
