2025/26 David Moyes

Why ??? 20yrs ago only 4 teams were spending money, Moyes was competing for Europe with, Blackburn, Bolton, Middlesbrough etc
Bournemouth get champions league after loosing 4 of his best players in an era when 7 or 8 teams spend big money and the rest of the league spend a 100mil is a bigger achievement in my opinion, than Moyes in 05

Whatever you do, don’t look up Moyes’ net spend in his first spell or the number of key players he had to sell. Also don’t look up how much Bournemouth have spent. I’m saying this for your own sanity.

If Iraola was their first choice why on earth wouldn’t they go for him now he’s available? I don’t think they have a clue what they’re doing personally.
Me personally.

I think they've come into the club and realised they've touched lucky with having a pragmatist in Moyes who can stabilise the club and keep us mid-table while they all the sort out our legacy financial issues, which still linger.

If you take the emotion out of it and look at it from a point of view of business,a couple of years of stable and steady governance is exactly what the club needed, and with Moyes it allows them to implement this.

But also there will come a time where they'll want to see genuine progress on the field and that starts with next season, and he knows the clock starts now.

I'll personally think next season is his last.

That's demonstrably not true though, isn't it?
Again same question I asked another one who said it wasn’t
Why ?? What did Moyes do at Everton in an era where 4 teams spent money and teams like Bolton, Blackburn, Middlesbrough were getting in Europe winning trophies. Bolton got to a final. But these were the teams were competing for Europe with from 04 to probably 2010 when city started to get money

Which begs the question why was Iraola ever their first choice in the first place if they wanted a steady pair of hands to stabilise the club. As said, I don’t think they know what they’re doing or know much about football.

Its not happening.

Moyes is here this summer.

TFG have told him in no uncertain terms that they expect European qualification next season if he's to be retained.

Thats where we're at..I think it will take a drastic change of heart for them to change at this point.

Depending on our profile and if Fabregas is still at Como in a season or so, I'll think TFG will throw the kitchen sink at him.

...and have they said he'll get more cash to spend?

"Peak" Moyes was probably 2007 to 2009 where we finished 6th, 5th and 5th - there was an established top 4 but he managed to effectively make us the best of the rest consistently with a budget which was about the 12th biggest in the league.

If Iraola finished about where they are now for 3 seasons on the spin, I'd agree with you, but he hasn't. He also hasn't done it while progressing in the cups or managing European campaigns as Moyes did over those 3 years or so.

I'm not trying to diminish what Iraola has done at Bournemouth, there are too many people talking down what he's done, but equally there are too many people talking down what Moyes did here first time around to make it suit their argument.

120 mil apparently.

And I get people will say "why are we giving him that much"

The short answer is you're probably spending that now just to maintain a Mid-Table positions

We won't get much change out of 120 for good full backs and a forward.

I get people don't want him,I get people want him gone, but we are, where we are at this moment.

Moot point - No Europe so he's gone.

He’s a point better off from
Dyche 2 yrs ago
Who isn’t bored of Moyes’s football
If he had joined us from abroad and we didn’t know much about him, I think a lot maybe me included would be saying, the football ain’t great he’s a bit defensive, but maybe it’s his squad so I’d happily say give him another Summer to buy some players and another season to see if he can kick on and improve the performances.

But we all know after 25yrs of watching this manager, nothing is changing no matter who he buys or how long he stays

Makes no sense to me: if Europe is a must to keep his job then why would they hand him (presumably) a new contract and a lot of cash when we could be well off the pace of Europe by next Christmas and the demand will be to get shut of him?
