2025/26 David Moyes

….really? I’m happy with progress and we’ve progressed under Moyes. I do think another 12 months progress will be an ideal foundation to consider passing the baton.

Summer transfers will be very interesting, hopefully keep us moving upwards. We need to keep moving upwards, we need momentum.
But if the committee are not aligned with Moyes on transfers, which they aren’t. Why let him dictate another Summer and spend another 150mil to then maybe appoint an Iraola type next summer and go in a totally different direction. Makes no sense
Also apparently Iraola would be very interested if Everton asked the question

That is the conundrum.

We give him another season, he buys more "old, slow but apparently PL proven players".

If WH go down, Soucek is nailed on to come here; slow as f, old as f, but hey, he scores a goal every 25 games.

Just sack Moyes at the end of season and let's progress.

It’s hard not to see Moyes and Starmer parallels. On arrival, they felt like an upgrade on what we had and there are definitely worse options out there, but their caution, insistence on snail’s pace incremental change and inability to win over hearts as well as minds might well prove their undoing. For supporters who crave change and looking to the future, bringing back Gordon Brown/John Stones and Harriet Harman/Ben White feels like the exact opposite of what’s needed. Can Moyes win doubters over this summer or is it time to set out a timetable for departure?

This is the middle ground, sensible opinion that seems to get people on either side raging!!

People really do have short memories....the last 5 years before Moyes was utter terrible....and sooo many of us was almost dreaming of a time with no drama, and for us to start competing in games.

We are 18 months on from utter hell as a fan, and many are already bored.

….totally agree. People are more fickle than ever and it’s not only when it comes to football. It’s an age of instant communication, where what happened 5 minutes ago matters most.

I think opinions are naturally split between different age groups. You have the younger generation who seem delighted with mid table finishes because all they’ve ever known is relegation battles and early cup exits. They live in a world where even our very own “supporters” call us a small club and that’s due to decades of abominable leadership from Bill Kenwright who single handedly destroyed the ambition and reputation of this once proud football club.

Then you have the older generation (50+) who have lived through years of seeing us win multiple trophies, who actually know what a giant of a football club we are, a club that’s spent more seasons (comfortably) than any other club in the top flight, the nine times champions of England, who will NEVER be content with mid table obscurity.

There are a few elder statesman on here such as @Eggs who like me and others, have lived through the glory years, who seem happy with a dour manager who gets us mid table and is happy for that to continue.

That disappoints me and confuses me in equal measure. But those kind of people seem to be a minority. Generally, the hopes and ambitions of our fan base are split between different age groups.

Anyone who acccpets 'safety' as the objective need to go and support another club, because they're not Evertonians.

There are two categories of supporters fundamentally: winners and losers. The losers will naturally gravitate to a manager with the loser stink all over him - like Moyes.

In my experience it's the other way round. A lot of older fans who've seen us at the top are almost content with their lot, they had a great time, they have all their memories, and now see the current state of the club as a sad decline but one that can be explained away and almost seen as just a natural story arc. Younger fans generally tend to be the angrier ones as they've never seen any success at all and they desperately want to. They also are naturally more inclined to see things through a modern lens - people like Moyes are seen as outdated and the whole idea of just aiming for stability is a completely alien concept to them in a world where things happen quickly and change is constant.
