2025/26 David Moyes

Moyes is afraid of everything that gets in the way of his easy achievable target of mid-table: he talks down the stadium seeing it as more of a hindrance than a help; he talks up late arrivals rather than being thankful £100M was spent in the end; he looks at the LC as a competition that crowds out preparation for PL games.

He's a horrendously negative manger who's acting like a dead weight on this club.

He may have suited the previous period he was here when we were in the doldrums and needing solid percentage decisions; but he is way out of step with this new era for the club.

I said last night that ultimately the owners are to blame here for not having the balls to tell him to sling his hook this summer and go with their own first choice. I think that's right and they need to start planning now for Iraola or Glasner or similar for next summer if we dont get a European spot.

This cant go on for two seasons. No chance. It'll stop our evolution from where we are to where we're destined to go in its tracks. Moyes must be replaced at the end of this season.

Look at the players who came in

Alacaraz - Gets game time most weeks and started last round.
Tim - Has started games this season
Dibling - Came on in the derby so can't be far away.
Coleman - Played last round
Mcneil - Played last round
Travers - Played last round
Barry - played last round.

This wasn't just a wild selection for Moyes.
It was a completely unnecessary selection by Moyes , that's the point.

Pereira did a job on Moyes last night: basically offered Moyes the swap of making loads of changes himself to match his 9 changes.

Like a divvy Moyes fell into the trap of making 7 changes to a team that's been playing very well by and large, because the opposition are making 9 changes...9 changes to a pathetically underperforming team.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that could be a bad move...but Moyes didn't work it out.

An absolute duffer walking around this club like he's a success because he won the Auto Trader European Trophy.

How anyone defends him is beyond me.
Wait, Moyes picked the Wolves changes as well? This is even better than picnics allowed in BMD and free tickets for McCoist.

Midas touch you, everything you go near turns to comedy gold...

Dropped a bollock last night. Too many changes which resulted in a disjointed (at best) first half performance which we never recovered from. I can see the logic in giving Barry and Dibling starts (and I would probably have given Rohl a start if he was fit), but throwing Coleman in at left back and dropping Pickford was unnecessary.

The team that finished the game should have been there or thereabouts been the team that started the game, and changes made once we were ahead (which I like to think we would have been).

Reaction against West Ham required now.

So you think Moyes should continue to field weakened teams in every cup competition?
No, but I do think we will look more like winning things when we are good enough to perhaps win things. I don't believe that trying to "prioritise" the Carabao cup, say, will automatically produce a side that is regularly competitive in the long term ...

And the issue will only improve when we have a better, weakened team?
This, amongst other things, would definitely help ...

So you agree that playing better players, increases the chances to win things...

Maybe doing so then is prudent, rather than doing the opposite;

ultimately a manager of a club which hasn't won a trophy in over 30 years, fielding an undeniably weakened team away to Premier League opposition is arrogant, though id prefer to describe as stupid.

I would describe it as prudent.

The weakened team showed how thin the squad is and the success of any team will be measured against their league position not how far they went in a low priority knockout competition...
