2018 it was. But the tournament has gained a lot more credibility since then.

But ok, try this one instead...

Why is he still here?

If they do get rid of him, it will be in the summer, they are never going to sack him towards the end of the season, it will be after the last game (if it happens) and they wouldn’t of sacked him when we were more in with a chance of Europe such as before Brentford.
Yes, I realise that. I was writing for effect. ;)

I hope we thank him for a competent job well done on the final day of the season.

"we've had the best season btw... really the best... our tactics have been the best - excellent, really - and our substitutions have been
Everyone was quite content at the start of the season to be looking for mid table with middling 50 points. Which we are still on target for.

This despite not having played a RB all season and starting Keane in nearly every match.
That is called " expectation management"..."no RB, Michael Keane starting yada yada- we will struggle this year so would gladly accept midtable and 50 points"...( as opposed to a relagation scrap). Now it looks like we may achieve that, it does not mean this has been successful...we have just met our very low expectations, that is all....hardly a recipe for optimism and success.

We need more stability. Currently we have the stability of a wooden out house. It'll last a bit and maybe with a coat of Ronseal it'll get through the winter.

But we want more stability. Concrete stability. Hardened, toughened stability the likes of which only a dour, weather Beaten, aged Scotsman can provide.

Or something...
"Ronseal Soucek" - plugging gaps in the wall since 1995.

You say this but who is on the bench watching mediocre players in front of them? Because Rohl is not as good as the other centre mids, and Dibling has performed worse than McNeil when given minutes.
How can we judge ANY of the players on the bench??? We havent seen enough of any of them! We have seen enough of the likes of Barry, McNeil and post 70 minute Gana though. But, if you are right and none of them are any good...who the eff signed them??????.

What was it specifically about the incredible signings we made after that point that shifted your outlook from 15th being realistic, to nothing less than Europe being acceptable? FWIW I thought top half was realistic at the time so would consider bottom half a disappointment, I’m just trying to work out the rationale coming from others.
I never bought into the idea of Moyes coming back AT ALL. People insisted we needed saving - fair enough - and some stability. Also fair. He achieved that. His job is done. As a reasonable fella, I felt that if he could then take us into Europe, it might be politically difficult to shake hands and say goodbye if he wished to take the side on in Europe. But now that looks unlikely, there is no reason - other than fear - to persist.

He's done his job, competently. You either believe he can drive us on - or you don't. I don't. It's as simple as that. Other opinions are available.

That’s fine mate. But are we able to agree that he’s exceeded your expectations for this season as it stands currently?
