2025/26 David Moyes

I imagine they meant to buy people who would actually play a part, something has clearly gone seriously wrong with Dibling and Rohl. I'd argue you could understand Aznou's situation if it was just him, but because it's all of them it only makes it look worse.

You could tell something was off with Dibling in that Mansfield game, and it's only ever got better by a miniscule amount. The club will know pretty much instantly if it's a Per Kroldrup horror signing, hoping he can play his way out of it seems like false hope. Someone has to carry the can for it anyway.

You could claim we haven't lost for three games then.
there is a difference to holding on for a draw and bottling it

….a few weeks ago we’d beaten Chelsea and drawn at Brentford, he’s being lauded. A week ago, George is being dismissed after a disappointing cameo in the Derby.

A last minute defeat, followed by another at West Ham. Forgive me for not jumping on the bandwagon just yet.
I think the issue a few weeks ago was that the league was so tight and when people tried to point that out the usual Moyes fan boys accused them of wanting Everton to lose.

A bottom half finish given the way the league has panned out is not good enough especially if 6th gets Champions League

We can’t be scared to try new managers or young players as it may not work. It definitely won’t work if you don’t give it a shot.

….i think his appointment has proven to be a good one, I certainly think the owners will be happy given our predicament when he came in. New owners, new ground, fighting relegation, so many players out of contract last summer. Difficult period of transition he’s had to work through.
So basically he has done exactly the same as the Sunderland manager this season.

So the big question is, is he the manager you want to take us to the next level and give another £100 mil plus in the summer?

Considering how much opportunity there has been in the back third of this season to finish in a European place, the finish currently looks so weak.

He needs to question himself (he won't)

The board need to ask themselves a serious question if hes what they want.

Well documented that moyes got final say on transfers. Mostly they have been a big fail.

The curious case of Merlin Rohl is something that continues to confuse me. Never have I seen a relatively unknown player hyped up so much by a club and manager in their early weeks. Had moments of looking good, had moments looking awful. Had a pretty good performance last time out. Never seen again.

Saying that. How moyes has used many players this season confuses me. Dibling, George, mcneil, barry, beto.

….some effort by the Sunderland manager.

I just don’t think the time is right now for the risk of a new man, we’ve had some transition these last 18months. It’ll happen, but it won’t be yet.

Regardless of my thoughts on Moyes, there is a clear bridge in what the senior football making authorities of the club and he want.

If you spend

£35m Dibling
£20m Röhl
£5m Aznou

And theyve made a combined starting total you can count on one hand, then something needs to change.

Do you roll the dice on Moyes, and change tact, or do you go for someone whos aligned with your long term strategy, and that is the big offseason question.

….O’Brien, Garner, Branthwaite, Iroegbunam, Armstrong, Barry, Rohl, George etc all part of the Moyes set-up. Ndiaye, Mykolenko, KDH, Beto not quite ready to draw their pensions yet ;)

Keane, Pickford, Tarkowski and Gueye at the other end of the spectrum. Decent balance.
1 teenager who doesn’t play a 20yr old who gets 10/15 mins every week the rest are 23 and over. And even some of them don’t play. It’s was a fact a few months ago we had the oldest average starting 11. That may have changed slightly, but I’d bet my house we’re still in the top 3. Good old experience to get us 11th

I'd be very surprised if he gets canned this summer. I think the board will be more than happy for another season of stability and all the riches the PL brings.

But I wouldnt be giving him much to spend. I'd tell him he'll need to generate his funds from his poor signings last summer and the players he hasn't used anywhere near enough.
