2025/26 David Moyes

I have big concerns about letting a manager go into the final year of their contract but that's what I think is going to happen. Especially when you are going to give that manager money to spend.

It's a strategy that risks some extremely short term decisions that will hurt any incoming manager the following season. I also don't think you get the best out of players when they think the manager is about to leave.
Honestly, I wouldn't give him a dime. What's the point? We dealt with it for the better part of a decade, bringing in players to suit the current manager, sack the manager 18months in but the player has another 3.5 years on their contract and they are MAAAASSSIVELY overpaid against what their production is, rinse/repeat. Tell him "if you want to stay that's fine but we're not spending 20m on Soucek when you haven't done a single thing to improve the younger players you also signed off on".

He's just so coddled it's ridiculous.

No mate moyes is not what's needed this or next year, we need a new younger manager with up to date ideas, not someone salivating over thomas soucek.

So people’s frustration and anger should turn to the owners and powers that be then. They won’t be sacking Moyes after saving us from Dyche and then delivering a mid table, zero relegation fear, average season.

I think it’s fair to assume if a similar season is served up next season they will be ok with that to.

You are in for another miserable season I’m afraid.

No hopefully they will be looking at the fact he's played a player he tried to sell instead of someone he bought, or the fact his football is just a touch better than dycheball. The fella is the past and not a very good one.

Brighton dropped £250m in one transfer window last season, iriola has spent £400m+ at Bournemouth and brentford have spent near enough 300m in the last 3 years.

A decent striker costs 70m now. What Everton consider buge amounts of money and what the PL considers a huge amount of money to spend in a season are two very different things.
Brighton spent 280 mil a couple of seasons ago and brought in 50mil the previous 2 summers they made a profit of 160mil and last summer they made 60mil from sales, so in 4 yrs they have a 10mil debt on spending
Bournemouth brought in 300mil just this season from sales. Brentford over 180 on 3 forwards in the last 2 summers. They have spent money, but They’re bringing big money back in.

If you go back 5 yrs on them 3 clubs, buying and selling. The debt on spending fir all 3 will not be huge imo

shhhhh

it requires them to look into everything, they don't like that when it's just bringing players in. Much like Liverpool spending half a billion to be shittastic.

Bill’s dead mate

Moyes cup record at Everton is abysmal to be honest. He doesn't even usually play his best team in cup competitions.

During Moyes 10 years: 3 semi finals and 1 final. 12 years afterwards afterwards: 2 semi finals.

So we're down to saying Moyes is abysmal. Fine, but we've been even worse since with far more money to spend.

I do find it incredible how much people on this forum look down on the best manager in my life time.
