2025/26 David Moyes

Still in the hunt for Europe which would still constitute a brilliant season compared to where we have been. Cup games and both derbies not great, but let’s take stock at the end of the season as hard as it is to be unemotional right now.

I haven't seen anyone come up with a solution to what we could have done differently when Beto went off.

I think picking out little perceived flaws in every derby under him is as much a waste of time as rolling out excuses for him every time.

He"s had more goes at this game than any manager in our history, and his record is crap. I'm not interested in context for why we lose, nor the "he should have done" type comments. I'm just sick of watching derbies with him in charge. Isn't 40+ more than enough at a club like Everton

Bench players used let him down today,. Barry was beyond pathetic.
But he also ignored the obvious midfield changes needed. Probably because the first subs were so ineffective.

This.

How many more goes does he need.

Our fanbase are scarred by the latter Moshiri era Davek. They are just relieved we're not in the relegation battle. I wonder if they actually want us to have ambition to win stuff and play more entertaining football. To me you need to take risks to succeed which is something Moyes will never do and his CV tells you that his limits are for us all to see

The vast majority want to move on and be successful. There are some who feel like we're in danger even now and therefore have a loyalty to Moyes and wont ever shift from that point...not even when we suffer massive humiliation like today's loss.

Unless we bring Joe Royal back I don't think our record will ever change.

Iroegbunam needed bringing on. We were being outrun in midfield for the entire last third of the game. No one in the middle showing for the ball from the defence to play through the press, so we were going over the top every time and ball was never sticking.

Beto going off was not ideal but a more proactive manager finds a solution to take control of the game. Liverpool were doing absolutely nothing on the ball. Game was ours to win or lose and we lost it through indecisive game management by Moyes.

Obviously Barry was the only other option. But we could have had Charli for McNeil and TimIro for Gana and shored up our midfield and gone narrow. They replaced their wingbacks and strikers. Barry doesn't chase down balls and is a very ball to the feet player.

Another thing to consider on all these ideal managers people want, is do you truly think one of those guys would do remarkably better than Moyes at this moment? It’s a legit question. The squad is what it is and what you have to work with. It’s limited. Starting XI is usually good. Substitutions could be better. We have no depth. We need better talent brought in over the summer. Let Moyes work with that a season or two. We get more wins. Maybe Europe. And then that is where I feel the game has outpaced Moyes. That’s when we’d need someone who can consistently challenge and sustain itself in Europe.

Its exhausting to see a coward as manager.

Whenever theres an opportunity hes in the media.

Then bottles it.

He's now dropped Armstrong and effectively Dibling has been mismanaged all season.

Options there for the players they could have been today.
