Then again, you clearly have an agenda. Obsessed with Moyes looking at your post history. Less so with Everton in general. Even when you do occassionaly post in another thread there's almost always a dig at Moyes.

I wasn’t cherry picking anything. According to the wages table Everton are 10th & we are 7th.
The only reason I mentioned Brentford was because of the huge disparity between their rank in the wage table & their 6th place. I wouldn’t suggest we get their manager.
I have stated a number of times I think Moyes has come in & done a very good job. I have also been consistent in that in my opinion I do not see him as the future. I don’t have a problem that you see it otherwise.

I believe the crux of his argument was that it's more to do with wages than money spent on transfers. That might be true, if, y'know, in 99% of cases, the teams with the highest wage bills also didn't have the biggest transfer spends.

Maybe, an alternative is that he sold to a guy backed by someone richer than Abramovich but couldn't have predicted the implications of COVID and the Ukraine war. Things were going pretty well when we had Carlo at the helm. We finished 7th, 8th, 8th, 12th, 10th before the effects of that hit. That guy also bankrolled an amazing stadium.
I think most would agree that he is not the future, but the agreement would also need some context on what you class as the future.
You say he has come in and done a good job. How long can he do a good job for? I don't personalty have a time frame in mind but I am content/happy with him staying for the next couple of years, if we are seeing improvements in the whole set up, while at least finishing 5th-7th in those years. Hopefully higher, but we have to consider that shooting for the moon very rarely comes off long term. There has to be a long term plan, and there is a possibility that Moyes for 2/3/4 years is that long term sustainable plan.
If you feel we need to go for a younger manager now, then fair enough. I am not saying that this will 100% fail, I just see the risks as greater than what they would be if we considered Moyes to be a factor in sustainable growth on and off the pitch over the next few years.
I loved that Roy of the Rovers comic, where at half time they were down 3-0. Roy gave a stirring speech on the profit and loss accounts of both teams. Inspirational stuff indeed. If I remember rightly they ended the match doing their tax returns in the dressing room, no idea what the score ended up being though.

The thing that blows my mind is that some people would happily have us paying 2 managers next season (Moyes and his replacement) just because they don't like him, or want to see more kids.

I have never understood this fixation with playing younger players. I think there is currently a decent mix of old, in their prime, and younger players (given my age I would say that anybody south of 25 could easily be in the 'younger players' section) Then we add a few very young players with potential and there is the base of a very good squad.
Yes, it is always nice to see a wonder kid or a player that obviously has a high ceiling, but in reality, it is not the be all and end all that a couple of posters on here make it out to be.

I also don’t know why I was set upon by Moyes supporters for pointing this out as the only team with a lower wage bill ahead of us is Brentford who I believe are specifically referenced in the book.
Interestingly another research conclusion was that most managers are mediocre. The media and fans alike focus on a manager’s appointment, but the reality is that most of them don’t make much of an impact.
Haven’t read it but have now ordered a copy.

How long do you expect the next manager to stay for? Young managers like Iraola and Glasner only seem to have around for 2/3 year anyway and would be off straight away if a better job came up. Moyes can give us at least two more season of stability/progression and hand over a strong squad to a younger successor. Martinez mark-II hopefully but better. But we need a stable base first. Changing now could set us back again.

It would be absolute amateur hour to get rid of him now. We'd still have to pay him. We'd have to effectively rip up any transfer plans we currently have. We'd disenchant players who are clearly happy playing for him.
It's been brought up on here recently, and it's something I've touched upon myself in the past: The opinion of the players is the most important thing. I always try to back a manager until I percieve them to have lost the players. Imagine being a group of players who are happy with the manager (see Forest this season) yet watch him pushed out the door for some abstract reason, only for some ballbag to come in who inspires little belief in the players. Meanwhile, you're still paying the manager most of the senior players like and/or believe in.
