Is it not now?Net spend isn’t the appropriate metric remember.
Mid-table finish and a European trophy, securing a third straight season of European football. That is simply the facts of the matter. They improved from 18th to 14-16th, because there were some actual atrocious teams.
Stop deifying a very mid manager.
Yeah but those that stuck their necks out at the start in the anti-Moyes and “no one could possibly do any better than Dyche” camps aren’t going to be enjoying it are they?
Midtable at 14th, after flirting with relegation and being on the verge of the sack. Barely won the trophy with the most expensive squad in the tournament.Mid-table finish and a European trophy, securing a third straight season of European football. That is simply the facts of the matter.
Which other West Ham managers had that level of success?
Also, all you ever hear at the moment is how bad the Premier League is (Davek was at it during the weekend). What does that say for every other league in the world?
You're just talking bs now. West Ham were not favourites to win at any stage of that tournament. In fact, teams that on paper should have won it after dropping down to the Conference for the Europa failed to do so. Now it is actually an easier tournament to win as you no longer get the Europa teams.Midtable at 14th, after flirting with relegation and being on the verge of the sack. I don't care 1 iota for WHam, I care that Moyes did the absolute bare minimum and what we'd expect from entering that tournament at those conditions - either the final or winning it.
The league's bad only if you need it to be for the sake of your own argument - you're even quoting davek here hahah
Okay mate, happy for you to think the highest paid and most expensive team in the tournament for small clubs isn't a favourite to win it.You're just talking bs now. It's not about me "thinking," its about the odds offered by bookmakers during the actual tournament.Okay mate, happy for you to think the highest paid and most expensive team in the tournament for small clubs isn't a favourite to win it.
You're either David Moyes or related to him, to defend him so fiercely and to make him infallible and godlike like this.
Haha okay Mr. Moyes. It's not about me "thinking," its about the odds offered by bookmakers during the actual tournament.
Someone says we had the 14th highest / lowest spent on the squad THIS SEASON - I pointed out we actually had the 7th highest investment net.Is it not now?
I'm fine with using net spend if we are willing to look beyond a single year.
How much net spend did we have in any of the years before? Do you want to talk about them as well or are we pretending they didn't happen and time only started when David Moyes turned up here?
Also as far as this is checkable right now and after ~10 min of trying to find information, they were either 2nd or joint 1st with Villareal for the entirety of the tournament, and slight favourites for the final. It's not about me "thinking," its about the odds offered by bookmakers during the actual tournament.
Someone says we had the 14th highest / lowest spent on the squad THIS SEASON - I pointed out we actually had the 7th highest investment net.
Someone says net spend doesn’t count because we didn’t spend any money for the previous 5 years and ‘Net spend is for boffins’ - I said why stop at 5 years, look at the last 10 when mosh that splashing the cash.
Someone says yeah but we lost 10 players,
- I posted we were far from an outlier on that.
Now you’re posting 5years net spend to make a moot point.
Ladies and gentlemen - THE MOYES INFALLIBLY ZONE
To answer your earlier post. I expected/hoped we'd finish the season on 50-55 points. Last season we finished on 48 points. We're currently on 47 points. I suspect we'll finish with 50+ points so will be happy with that. If that means 13th then so be it.
It's a different season also. People say the league is weaker this season, but I'm not sure it is. Spurs current points total, for example, would have kept them up last season, by 5 points.
