2025/26 David Moyes

Think i posted a month ago (?) that i could only see our players putting in requests to go to City or Arsenal.

Now Carrick has turned things around, i'll add United into the mix as well.

RS they'd be crazy to put in a request to go there, Chelsea have no aspirations to win trophies, Spurs are hopefully doomed and the others arent clearly going to be superior to us going forward.

Testament to TFG, Kevin Thelwell, the players, staff at the club and of course Moyes.

Hopefully he doesn't choke as I rememher in his first stint he usually finished the season well.

As I wrote back then, there have been huge changes in the league over the past year.

I think KDH & Grealish would be mightily thankful to Moyes for saving their careers. Pretty straightforward and hardly box office stuff.

I'd prefer to hear about challenges, struggles and goals of players who arent in the team.

I prefer to look at the football pitch when deciding if a manager is doing a good job. Not the gossip column.

Every manager has annoyed players, it will never be the smoking gun to prove Moyes is a very bad man, like some want to believe

Absolutely. Roy Keane still can't bring himself to say anything nice about Ferguson.

Teddy Sheringham and Andy Cole couldn't stand each other as players. As professionals though, they got on with it.

The big boys get on with it. Little boys like Zat think it's not a thing because it doesn't happen on Fifa.

Thankfully, I have him on ignore.

I dont think many care if Moyes is a good or bad person.

More so, my point was only that the Everton media department are the ones rolling out players to say nice words and I'm not sure how some posters dont know this.

If I was interested to learn about what players actually thought then I'd prefer to hear from a wider range including those we expect or suspect may be unhappy. That may provoke some interest rather than these soundbites.

However, we're never going to know the truth on any of this because it will be awful for both the player and the club if there is negativity brought into the public domain.

So its all a moot point.

Same in any walk of life. If you want to forge a career in any sector you don't diss your boss, as nobody will trust you to work for them in case you do the same to them.

Zat poses the early hours of the morning ( for us ) question de jour, does it matter if our manager is a good or bad person?

Take Moyes out of the equation because I haven't met him and have no opinion upon his character.

Without naming names would it natter to us if our manager was an absolute gobshite like....( Add your chosen manager's name here)?

If they were successful I suspect it wouldn't matter in the slightest to the fans but would use that as an excuse to beat them with when things turn sour.

However from a player's point of view I suspect that it matters greatly.

I was effectively self employed for much of my career but before was of course employed and there's no doubt in my mind that I gave more, tried harder if I liked and respected the boss.

As an aside, as a self employed person I definitely went the extra mile for a deserving and good matured client rather than a horrible know it all .

Yes, but as I said, just because a few players may not like him does not mean anything. It wouldn't be interesting because we already know it to be true. You can't please everybody. As per the example of Roy Keane and Ferguson, mentioned by somebody else. And that was somebody who was picked and was one of Ferguson's players who he improved and helped become a top player.

So, it is a moot point, not because we may never hear from the players who don't like him, or have had bad experiences playing/not playing for him, but it is because we already know he is not going to please everybody.

Keane and Fergusons beef didn't happen when they were together at Man Utd but afterwards. They were very close when they were at Man Utd together

….you only dislike Moyes because players you’ve made grandiose claims about are not being selected. That’s all it is. When we win a few games you look to row back and tactically praise him but the undercurrent remains the same.

Fortunately, Everton winning points is more important to Moyes than your reputation.
