If anyone thinks we're to big for any one of those trophies, than I don't know what Gutter they have been hiding in for the last 30yrs
Well the topic was started by somebody who appears to be posting from up Moyes backside

It's the opposite. It's an unnecessary distraction and the rewards are scant.Great to see everyone is out and back on form tonight.
Are we now to big for certain Trophy's ?
The lemon has that effect on peopleThis thread is exhausting.
Martinez got Wigan relegated because he wouldn't adapt his tactics to be harder to beat. I remember one match in their run in and the pundit was giving him the worst criticism imaginable for how naive he was tactically. We saw the evidence ourselves when his coaching influence came more to the foreThat's pretty funny.
Martinez has won an international trophy and beat Man City in an FA Cup with the Dog & Duck.
That's the one! Was there a Simod Cup or did I imagine it?Zenith Data Systems!![]()
Come on now mate, even you don't believe that. It's the opposite. It's an unnecessary distraction and the rewards are scant.

Greatest day of their existence that was for Wigan when they won the cup. If you support them you take that moment and accept that when Whelan decided to decimate the squad relegation was inevitable.
They'll always have the cup memory.
You could change Moyes for Martinez in that first sentence and it would aptly apply to you DaveThe way that some people weigh in for Moyes when there's the slightest criticism of him is a bit cultish, tbh.
You can see how insecure they are around his credibility and reputation among Evertonians; they cant allow any deviation from the party line that he's a manager 'we're lucky to have'.
That's incredible to me. I can sort of understand that level of devotion for a really successful manager who's won a lot but gone off the boil, or even a maverick manager who forged their own way against the grain and garnered support for sticking to their footballing principles but weren't that competitively successful.
Moyes though is neither of those two things.

Don’t remember the Simod cup myself mate - but I guess the competition prob had different sponsors - but one of my earliest Everton memories was that game and I was very very young and it being the Zenith Data Systems - thought it was huge at the time and was gutted!I'm sure it was the Simod.
It's a great memory for sure Davek. A managers work is determined more by consistency of league finishes though. Look at Ange for example. A truly shocker of a coach because like Martinez he doesn't work on the fundamentals of the game so his sides whilst good to watch and streaky enough to win a cup will always be too easy to beat on too regular an occasion. You don't progress as a club with these kind of managersGreatest day of their existence that was for Wigan when they won the cup. If you support them you take that moment and accept that when Whelan decided to decimate the squad relegation was inevitable.

I think the bit about a manager sticking to their footballing principles applies to me. I admire that about managers. You could change Moyes for Martinez in that first sentence and it would aptly apply to you Dave
