2025/26 David Moyes

I know where you're coming from mate but I struggle with those two.

I dont get why you'd change you'd mind over a handful of games.

What would make the difference over... is it 11 games?
In round figures, Moyes managed us for 11yrs
We were having more or less the same conversations back then as we are now
After11yrs he came back
HE
DID
NOT
CHANGE
in fact he became more so

He won't change much in 11 games

If thats what TFG want, he'll still be here in August...and we'll still be having the same conversation

Twitter really is on it's arse isn't it?

But there’s no guarantee now, Moyes was here 13 yrs ago the game had moved on and he spent a fortune at West Ham and last 2 seaons finshed 14th and 9th. And palace are peed off with galsner,
Because he’s told them he’s going they’ve sold his best players. And Howe under the circumstances has done a solid job at Newcastle 2 champions leagues
1 trophy and another final.

Moyes is old and outdated look at his bench what the hell does Irvine offer ? He’s set on his ways and will
Never change the football is dreadful to
Watch. Let’s get a manager/coach who
Realises it’s 2026 and not the 90’s
It's not just about results/table position, honestly a different manager might have us a couple places lower, if it means i don't want to throw myself in the mersey after every home game and I can see progression on the pitch, i'm fine with finishing 11th as opposed to 9th.

I think you both underestimate the pressure a new manager would be under to get results and the chances are they would also revert to similar tactics if they had the two worst full backs in the league and Barry/Beto up top.

Iraola is touted by many on here as a replacement but his Bournemouth side produced the most Dyche like performance against us when we went down to 10 men a few weeks ago.

People say they're fine finishing lower down the league next season but that's very easy to say now.

Surely seeing how you end up in a season is better than making a decision while you still have things to play for?

You are saying see how he does over 11 games and that will determine whether he's still the right man, or not.

That's fine, but it's very much at odds with the same call for patience and long term building.

I also think its also more bigger picture and my own view is based on a few decades over Moyes rather than a handful of games.

I hoped he'd take the handbrake off, thinking he hasn't got brand Moyes to protect anymore. Maybe one last shot. Go for it.

Hes hinted at that - I nearly fell off a chair when he talked up Europe at the start of the season. He even admitted hes getting too old to be cautious.

But it hasn't happened. He is who he is, and on reflection, I think that talk was him saying what he knew owners/fans wanted to hear.

The only things that can really alter our opinions on moyes over the last 11 games are if he finds a way to play effectively at home or if any of the younger players start to make clear and significant improvements.

Without either of those things I see little argument in favour of keeping him

It’s easy for me to say because I want solid performances and a style of play that actually has longevity in 2026, something that helps players develop and improve over time. What we’ve been served up at home clearly isn’t working, and he’s done nothing to change it. Long term you can’t just rely on away form, eventually the luck runs out (imo we have been lucky in some of the away game wins).

If he gets another season, the home form has to improve - otherwise there shouldn’t even be a conversation about renewing his contract, like some probably already want 🙃

Im not saying the 11 games to base it on Im saying the whole season. We've had good moments this season, not many at home to be fair but he still has the 11 games to make it a good season.

Just going back to saying whether hes either the right man or not- I think a trendy untested foreign manager could have been eaten up by the transition to the new stadium, expectations being raised etc. A tried and trusted manager probably wouldnt have taken the job on the back of 3 years of circling the drain.

So I stand by that hes the right manager for this period to reestablish us as not a relegation contender but a club on its way up, albeit maybe not as quick as people would want.

But hasn't Moyes kinda been 'eaten up' in a way? The away form has saved him big time, which he deserves credit for btw, we've just been shocking levels of bad at home for most of the season
