2025/26 David Moyes

Top half.

We finished 13th last season and earned the points to finish 12th the season before. Both times closer to Europe than relegation.

We then stabilised under owners who want to be here and spent a club record figure, before even factoring in Grealish and near £20m obligation on Rohl. Sure, we need to spend more but we need to he going the right way.

Here's the thing though- 9th, or 12th will be very few results which shouldnt, in my view, determine thumbs up or down on the manager.

Hes either the right man, or he isnt.

My view, hes the right man for now. I think all the players will benefit from a settled club going forward and its not going to go from relegation candidates to world beaters over night.

We have spent money but not in the way a city or liverpool have to get oven ready players. Moyes built some good sides but needed time. You'd hope players like Dibling, Rohl, Aznou can play a part going forward.

I remember people were on Pienaars back when he first signed, Coleman went out on loan, Fellaini was the biggest waste of money going, even Baines took a while to settle if I remember right.

Fans want instant over night success, our most successful periods have been built on stability and building a team.

I think we revevaluate at the end of the season and see where we are.

I know where you're coming from mate but I struggle with those two.

I dont get why you'd change you'd mind over a handful of games.

What would make the difference over... is it 11 games?
Yeah I agree. he's not going to switch once we hit the magic 40 mark, and TBH if he does thats almost as bad for next season as if he didn't.

we don't need to be 'Square peg round hole' FC, but he can't, couldn't and never will be able to help himself, all so he can shoehorn in "experience", which is costing us dearly.

If 11 points off 4th is us being close, then surely us being 12 points off the relegation zone is the same? On a similar note, for all the 'who could ever have dreamed we'd be here at this point after the least couple of years' that's knocking around, in the last 2 seasons we've earned enough points to have been 11 and 14 points clear of relegation at this stage.
Yeah it feels like a season that promised a little more in terms of progress, positions and points, has truly came off the rails since early December. If the current run rate doesn’t improve we’ll end up with similar points, similar position and a similar horrendous home record to last year which will be both disappointing and frustrating. He needs to change his approach to salvage the season.

Think we've had such a bad run of managers and the relative safe pair of hands you get with Moyes and the history of the teams hes built I feel like this transition year of mid table safety and getting to the end of the season to see where we are is the best course to take.

We both said we wanted Thomas Frank, look how he got on at Spurs. Think our fans would eat him up as well.

The safety blanket of Moyes hopefully building a squad that can push on next year is what Im looking at. The home form improving when we're settled in at the stadium will help as well.

Why is it we always have to build slowly and have a safe pair of hands and make the club stable.

while teams like Fulham Brentford Bournemouth Newcastle Villa, who have all dropped down to lower leagues, but are doing better than us.

whats the excuse next season, Moyes says we are establishing ourselves as a top 10 club and hopefully we can creep into the European places?

With the supposed war chest we are getting this summer he should have a target of champions league or be sacked, I am sick of his little old Everton mentality.

Christ even West Ham beat united last week

No they didnt

I have to say it feels a little bit like some people are living in a parallel universe where:
a) Loads of people are saying we should be winning the league and it's a disgrace that we're not
and
b) Being patient with a 63 year old manager who has managed the club for 13 years without ever changing his ways is the only conceivable way that the club can progress.

honestly think people are mad if they believe Moyes can build a side in 2026. His time at West Ham gets overlooked when it comes to recruitment, they ended up with one of the oldest squads and around the 8th-highest wage bill. It’s not all on him, and he did finish 9th in his final season, but it was a squad built perfectly for Moyesball.

Thankfully, it looks like TFG aren’t going down the route of building a team just to play Moyesball more efficiently, it feels like they’re trying to build something long term.
