2025/26 David Moyes

He said this in reference to a question regarding wages and transfer spends in a pre match press conference when we were playing city iirc.

It was how much money teams can spend in reference to what we can spend is like taking a gun to a knife fight because of how overwhelmingly unequal the squads are. When we can only bring on subs that we found in a skip and city have full internationals just waiting to come off the bench.

It wasn't about belittling the club at all
Though that was the shopping at Aldi when others are shopping at Harrods line?

Gets confusing with so many woe is me idioms.

Hopefully he plays KDH further back today we've been getting overrun in the midfield for awhile

But its proven time and time again teams
with less money and smaller/cheaper squads can win cups and titles. Obviously it helps, but with a defeatist attitude you’re always on be back foot.

I remember Ferguson commenting on Chelsea under mourinho in his first season that Chelsea should win the league, because what they spent and Jose pointing out his Porto team knocked Utd out of the European cup tbe year before with a squad 1/10 of the cost

But if you look back at the teams that were winning things when moyes was last here. You'll see it was 90% the top teams winning it.

And the teams outside of that that won usually spent more then we did, teams like Portsmouth, spurs, hell even Birmingham probably out spent us.

If you look at teams that won the cups that are "smaller then us" they usually had alot of luck in getting it. Something that we never seem to get.

I think if we were 8th-9th behind the sky 6 and say villa, Newcastle, and they were pulling away because they spent the most cash, and our home form had been better, and finally the new signings like Aznou, rohl and Dibling had all been given fair goes and looking raw but promising, then I imagine most would accept that it’s been a good season and that we’ve been progressing well, and that we’d need another window or 2 to really challenge for Europe and beyond

But when the home form is crap, and the likes of United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle are all there to be got at, and Spurs falling apart, and we’re persisting with McNeil, Keane, Mykolenko and other such remnants of the very bad moshiri era Everon, then no wonder fans are unhappy or wondering what might be possible if there was a change in management

Why counts as a “fair” go? If they aren’t up to it at the moment then they aren’t up to it. Rohl has put in many poor performances and a few good ones. Dibling has been poor.
