2025/26 David Moyes

I wouldn't be opposed to him coming back here as manager in the near future. Marcel Brands wanted him to stay on as manager after all, but the board overruled him.
He wouldn't be my choice but he realised his mistakes and went away and learnt from them and improved himself and is better for it. He has done reasonably well at Fulham considering its mostly sell to buy there yet they play some decent ball at times. His teams are still partial to the odd hiding every now and again and there are times when he does look a little lost but overall he has done well for me.

Yeah, always said he just walked through the door at the wrong time.

He is someone that doesn't seem to carry much baggage with our fanbase.

Do we want to go back again though, or is it better just getting a clean slate from everything in that awful period..

Think it's a lot easier to say that now than it would be this time next season.

If on the day Moyes was appointed people had said in a year's time we'd be still in the Premier League in 8th place everyone would've said what a brilliant job he's done. The reality in this thread however shows that for a lot of people it's nowhere near good enough.
I suppose my point is that we could quite easily be 11th or 12th before we next kick a ball. If that wouldn’t change your opinion on the job Moyes is doing then that’s the point proven, surely?

But if Moyes goes people are going to want improvement or else what's the point? A new manager hovering around lower mid table will have used up that initial grace by Christmas.

Yeah I don’t disagree with the general point but I think it’s maybe easy to overlook how important home form and enjoying matches is to people. I would guess that I’d be more in favour of Moyes right now if we were slightly lower in the table but had a good home record and had handed out a few batterings. I spend a lot of time and money watching Everton but don’t get to many aways anymore, the fact I’ve not seen us win a game in the flesh for approaching 3 months undoubtedly colours my perception of how we’re doing. My initial point was just that if we were a couple of points worse off but the majority of match going fans were happy with what they were seeing I don’t think you’d see much difference in the way people viewed things overall.

That's the only reason I wouldn't want him back. We need to move forward and get a genuinely new start. No more old managers, old players, old coaches. A new Everton with a new staff (players excepted of course). I like Silva but it would be another re-appointment, we've been doing it since Kendall and there's always a clamour for old players to re-sign in here, we need to move on.

Moyes has made us better but it is never good enough until we win something. A home game would be a start.

That depends. If we finish 12th we hire a similar style mananger to Moyes and give him 130mil this summer, then yes we need top 10. You can’t watch this dross and finish mid table. If we got Iraola and we buy young players and we play a much more entertaining style and we’re trying to win games at home and on the front foot and and going after teams and you can see a plan, then I could accept being 12th/13th first season. After that yes he will need top half

The point is, as a fan, what would you rather see? 12 0-0 draws or 8 4-3 defeats and 4 4-2 wins? Both sets of results get you the same number of points and a goal difference of zero

Do you honestly think TFG will pay off Moyes (£5 million at least) then spend what? Around 125 million on strengthening the squad to buy a different manager to get us mid table again. Sadly I've got some bad news for you,the season tickets will sell out whether you feel entertained or not.
