2025/26 David Moyes

Personally I want to see Moyes manage us for the foreseeable future and to oversee the rebuilding of the club. Stability is everything and Moyes is a safe pair of hands.
I never want to see us again 45 minutes from the championship or a Ducoure goal away from it.
So basically we go the game or tune in every week just to watch a game footy with no hope of actually achieving anything?

I want to see us 45 minutes away from winning a trophy.

This summer is exactly the right time to kick on from mediocre nothingness which we have been for 30 years, Btw Moyes has been here for almost half of that time.

He has done great since coming back getting us from where we were to where we are now with also the transition from GP to HD stadium.
But for me his job is done now, the club is stable and has the opportunity to kick on, but we wont under him.

It’s difficult, because you kind of need someone who is a safe pair of hands but also willing to try and kick on when the opportunity presents (Eddie Howe did that to an extent at Newcastle but is now struggling).

We have gone with the stability of Moyes in the past, and following that we have repeatedly gone for flavour of the month managers (Martinez, Koeman, silva) who had decent first seasons and then took us backwards and we had to get someone in to steady the ship again (Allardyce, Dyche, Moyes).

Newcastle struggling?

Semifinal of the League cup, still in the FA cup and currently top 8 in the Champions League new format.

So glad we are not struggling like them.

I meant more league performances. Where they are inconsistent like us.
They have spent a lot on signings who haven't performed, Gordon and Elanga have both been awol for months now, Elanga has 1 assist since he got there (I think) and he cost £55m. Howe has gone as far as he can with them imo, I would expect a change come the summer, there does seem to be a bit of chat here and there.

He was always bang average that’s why.

Yes, because we had incompetent or nefarious owners. But we are now told we have competent professionals running the show with the means to fund the club. Therefore, let's see how competent they actually are. Choosing the right successor this summer is key. Get this right, and the club can progress. Get it wrong and, as you say, we are back looking for a safe pair of hands. All of us should hope and expect that the Friedkins are competent and confident enough to expect good results from that competence. Holding on to Moyes tells us they don't back themselves - or that they don't really want to back the club. Because if I didn't want to spend money, I'd keep competent, ceiling-limited Moyes too. He's safe.

But the differences in cup performances means supporting them can be a joyous experience. Supporting us is a grim drudge. They play Champions League and at Wembley. We lose 0-3 to Sunderland on penalties. Most Evertonians expected an up and down league season. What we dreamed of was a few cup runs to lift the mood. What we got was a white flag team selection and capitulation at Wolves. Moyes is infuriating. Had he had a proper go at the League Cup and dredged any kind of competent performance out of the squad against Sunderland, we'd be having a very decent season indeed. As it is, it's one step forward, one step back and a rollercoaster depending on whether we are home or away.
