2025/26 David Moyes

I think his performance in the league has been as expected; a bit up and down, comfortably bobbling along in mid-table.
Current grade: C

Going out of both cups early, to an abysmal Wolves side away and then newly promoted Sunderland at home, is not acceptable.
Final grade: F

That has him hovering around a D- as it stands. Anything below a C at the end of the season and we should part company, so it’s basically European qualification or goodbye for him now.

This isn’t an up and coming manager we should be giving time to develop, he’s the finished article nearing the end of his career.

My gut feeling is that 7th June 2023 in Prague was the apotheosis of his time in management. We need to be looking for a manager who’s best days are still ahead of him.

I'm expecting tremendous results with all these great players back...

We’ve been convincing in 4 games this season. Fulham at home, Forest home and away, Wolves away.

There was also a lot of character shown at United away.

Results are results of course but we looked terrible v Brighton, first half v Palace was abysmal, Bournemouth was just average.

All these senior players were there when we didn’t turn up at Leeds, Sunderland, all the top 6 games, the battering by Newcastle, the no show v West Ham.

Branthwaite aside, put all our best players back in this team and I still couldn’t tell you how we’d play. Just hope Ndiaye or KDH did something out nothing whilst we shuffle it around midfield slowly and lash aimless balls for Barry to flick on to no one.

A large part of the success in his first spell was down to having adventurous full backs in Baines and Coleman who would bomb forwards and support the likes of Arteta and Pienaar, yet now he seems content with Mykolenko and O’Brien and our total lack or attacking threat.
