He was never an exciting appointment, but is he the right man for now?? Can he progress us and does he understand the club and its fan base??

I think the answer to all of that is yes, people have every right to feel maybe he could have handled his departure better but it’s a long time gone.

I’d like to think we have vastly experienced manager who knows what we want, I welcome some stability and hope for progress.
What counts as an exciting appointment anyway? You didn’t see Linford Christie ditching his coach for an “exciting, younger, more progressive” sprinting coach when he chased Olympic gold!

Football has become such a televised commodity people get excited by the thought of a handsome young Portuguese geezer sliding around on his knees, but it has no bearing on what the players actually do on the pitch.

"...and I will find you!"
Everton definitely aged Frank Lampard...

Interesting article in Guardian. Moyes saying he meet with TFG on Thursday morning. Said got impression they ‘want to spend’

Don’t think for a moment its Man City spending.

However we very likely will be able to go toe to toe with Brighton, Brentford, Fulham etc.

If we can spend consistently over several windows….under stable ownership/management we’ll progress.

Couldn’t agree more, I think people didn’t like the fact Moyes comes from our past. A past littered with failure and they didn’t like how he departed the club and the things he said.

Personally I’m happy with the appointment and can get over the past if it means a brighter future. I agree with what you say above whole heartedly. But, it was more pragmatic than it was progressive, although progressive could have meant no premier league experience and way more high risk.

He didn't need to change coach when he was doping.

Honestly think today might be the toughest game so far for Moyes.

If he can grab 3 points today that would be unbelievable.
I think so mate...be some tired legs out there today coupled with a paper thin squad.

These will try and keep the ball and make us chase the game.

A point under the circumstances would be a great result.

That's very interesting mate, thanks for posting.

Think thats an unofficial TFG update, they'll have sanctioned that.

Andy Hunter as a journo back in the game by the looks of it.

Palace have won once out of the last 20 games against us or something mad like that and they are not great at home either, I don't think it will be that unbelievable tbh, I'm sure we will be fine.

Its not so much as them as a team but more to do with our squad getting stretched to the limits, also the euphoria of midweek and the aftermath might have drained the players mentally and physically.

Hope im wrong but got a bad feeling about today.
