But I dint have to hold my hand up. I state he was an upgrade on Dyche but not that much of one.

Dyche got us a win in that fixture last season...

Not “much” of an improvement ?

So scoring the same amount of goals in 4 games as Dyche did in his final 15 and getting 4 wins in 4-5 weeks , which is half of what Dyche done in a calandar year … WITH THE SAME players … while increasing our possession , chances created and over all attacking play…

Is not much of an improvement ?

Indeed.

Lets not be kopite cult like.

Or feebly try and associate things to agendas.

Let's call a spade, a spade.

It's a bad response.

When a player is racially abused, and you're asked how he's doing in the media - you don't express disappointment in that player. 3 times. And put any doubt on whether the abuse happened. 'if the abuse happened'. Jeez.

If it didn't, there wouldn't be a joint club statement, and the player wouldn't be reporting it.

That's actually a very good point.

We're all guilty of having a brain fart.

People can and do say the wrong thing.

People do overanalyse press conferences.

Things are taken out of context on social media clips.

He's probably had a stock answer saved in his head, as you've said - and give it to the wrong question. So he's answered his own question, rather than the question posed.
Very important point this that is often forgotten as people like Sky can only show clips on social media and clearly are going to pick the juicy bits, they don't have the scope to show the full context in a twitter soundbite.

He clearly didn't do a very good job of it if he did.

So he's either incompetent at his job and didn't prep him or he's incompetent at his job and didn't do it properly. Either way the club staff need to step it up for what should be tap in questions.
This is Dave Prentice we're talking about here.

I think it would be mad suggest no one from our Comms department has sat down and briefed Moyes after the media frenzy.

Aye mate.

Though to be fair, we can't blame that this time. The full version is the same - repeated disappointment in the victim, and even doubt as to whether the abuse happened.

In future, lets just back the victim and condemn the abuse. Lets not risk talking up aggravating factors.

If a loved one was abused and someone asked you how they're doing, you wouldn't start with "I'm disappointed in them...", or ref whether the abuse happened and for good reason.

I did love this answer though. Which also didn't have much to do with the question asked. Maybe Davey was just doing his own press conference

He's always been great at that type of thing - ear to the ground. He does get that part of the club. The Peoples Club wasn't a fluke.

Do chuckle though because my biggest issue with Moyes when he was manager first time around, was exactly that. Downplaying expectations/knife to gunfight stuff. This;

Terrible.

Maybe just watch the press conferences in full before getting the pitchforks out.

He was asked how Doucoure was in general after the racist comments, he said he was fine, he skirted around the topic a little but then finished with:

“I was disappointed in Doucs because he’d played so well in the game, he’d done a great job for the team, but it still doesn’t mean that people are allowed to abuse you, you know, and if that’s the case then it’s completely wrong”

End of discussion.

I wonder if he’s been briefed not to go into too much detail either because of the ongoing police investigation?

Moyes just practically apologised to the racists on Doucoure's part: "Ilm sure he wouldn't;'t do it again".

FFS.

Should have hammered the racists instead of your own player.

Lol

Is right dave … infact .. I heard he jumped in the crowd and he was the person that threw the bottle on the pitch … then stole some candy from a baby and then signed some elderly , blind , deaf widow up for solar on the way home …

Proper rat he is …

“I’m not gonna bother my arse to spend 10 minutes listening to the man but I will spend 10 minutes kicking off about an out of context clip I’ve seen online”

A lot of that in here.
It's still a clunky answer with all the context. It's not a massive deal like, but it's worth acknowledging. Giving clunky answers about football related stuff is fine, but when it comes to something like racism I would like the club to be absolutely clear. Saying 'if it happened' and that Doucoure is 'fine' just sweeps it under the carpet a bit and that's not great. It's alright to acknowledge that without believing Moyes is a massive racist and we need to sack him.

And it’s alright for people to watch a press conference before commenting on it. Just basic common sense to do so.

This was the question and answer to give context so people can interpret as they see fit;

That’s the only clip I’ve seen of it. While I would have liked him to condemn any racism, he sounded to me just entirely focused on the actual footballing perspective. Clearly disappointed doucoure has got himself suspended and basically saying he shouldn’t have done what he did (he shouldn’t have but that doesn’t excuse any racism either).

Saying doucoure is fine, again I think is him focusing on the football side as he goes on to talk about the cards etc. I half expect he doesn’t want to comment as there is a police investigation.
