2024/25 David Moyes

If he had led with talking about the abuse and then talking about being disappointed with the player there would be no issue. Just a bit of a clunky answer but nothing wrong with what he's said.

We all know though that a certain poster has an agenda against Moyes and will do anything to be able to blast him.

He is slightly victim blaming by saying if Doucs was in the position again he wouldn't do it again. He might be (and probably is) getting at the fact that it got him sent off and suspended, or he might be getting at the fact it resulted in him getting racist abuse.

If its the former then it's just poor wording, if it's the latter it's clearly victim blaming by saying Doucoure needs to behave differently in order to avoid vile racist abuse.

I agree with GOT though that the press staff - yer man Prenno - ought to have prepped Moyes for this question and he shouldve had a blanket statement ready to go

Moyes is not a racist and I’m sure would not wish to appease any racists. He’s probably rolled out the answer he was prepped with to the wrong question if I had to guess, hence why he’s then clarified it later in the press conference, he was probably expecting one on Doucoure celebrating in front of their fans and had certain lines.

Not a big deal to start hounding the manager on jeez.

How do you know Prenno never prepared him?

People have run out of on field things to hound him for, so this is what they’ve had to resort to sadly. Quite unpleasant and low imo.

He put a protective arm round Liverpool's manager and their fans rather than around his own racially abused player.

Moyes is just looking for an easy time around Liverpool (the city) rather than dealing with a serious case of racial abuse of his own player.

If I were Doucoure Ild be right into his office this morning.
A good 90% of those posting the abhorrent emojis and gifs wouldn’t know where to locate Liverpool on a map of the UK, let alone step foot near Anfield, they aren’t fans and I dare say it’s the result of betting rings gone bad as in most cases of racial abuse

There was a heavy chunk of Reds on the club’s statement rightly condemning it so let’s not tar everyone with the same brush eh?

Indeed.

Lets not be kopite cult like.

Or feebly try and associate things to agendas.

Let's call a spade, a spade.

It's a bad response.

When a player is racially abused, and you're asked how he's doing in the media - you don't express disappointment in that player. 3 times. And put any doubt on whether the abuse happened. 'if the abuse happened'. Jeez.

If it didn't, there wouldn't be a joint club statement, and the player wouldn't be reporting it.

That's actually a very good point.

We're all guilty of having a brain fart.

People can and do say the wrong thing.

People do overanalyse press conferences.

Things are taken out of context on social media clips.

He's probably had a stock answer saved in his head, as you've said - and give it to the wrong question. So he's answered his own question, rather than the question posed.

He clearly didn't do a very good job of it if he did.

So he's either incompetent at his job and didn't prep him or he's incompetent at his job and didn't do it properly. Either way the club staff need to step it up for what should be tap in questions.
We know fine well what the guy is like, he should have been booted from this club a long time ago.
