Jesus Christ the Dychettes are out in full force for this one now. Rabid hyenas that have just been thrown a piece of steak.

Doucoure was stupid and irresponsible and the racist abuse off the back of it should not be tolerated in any part of society.
Now you're doing it.

FFS, just back your own player against racism and the soft peddling of it.

Let a load of racists off the hook by blaming Doucoure instead.

Im done. What was the point in that derby performance when he throws it all away in the presser. Just short of wearing a swastika arm band.

If we sack him now id suggest we get a tight lipped yes/no goodbye type manager. Keep it tight and tidy. I wouldn't get a carrasmatic type. It could go well but also too risky. Could be left wide open for the counter questions.

Get us escaping presser relegation then look to get Morgan Freeman in in the summer.

If you heard him speak about Docucore this morning it was a master class in management, he said he played brilliantly (empowering), but was annoyed with him for getting sent off (standards), also mentioning he's on trial essentially playing for a contract (motivating)- watch the Duke now bust a lung for the rest of the season. Classic management.

This was my take over in the Duke thread. ;)

Stop reading so much into what managers say at pressers. They’ve all got weird turns of phrases that can be interpreted however people want. People got themselves tied in knots over Dyche mentioning if a player was fit or not, let’s not go down the same rabbit hole with Moyes.
I totally agree and have said as much before but in this particular instance I do think it's a poor answer. It's absolutely fine saying what he says, but he had to also say what's happened since is disgraceful and nobody should ever have to put up with that.

Fair enough.

I don't watch pressers as I find them boring.

Me either.

I just try an pickup bits that are important - like club/players response to being racially abused, and NDiaye injury update.

First I saw was on social media when a reply put it on my feed. This one;

Anyway, here is the transcript;

PERSON 1: Abdoulaye Doucouré, obviously, has been in headlines. There has been the statement put out by both clubs after Wednesday about comments that were sent to him, racist comments, just, how is he in Finch Farm at the moment?

PERSON 2: He's fine, you know, I said after the game, and I still remain the same as his. You know, I was disappointed that he got himself sent off. And the club will look at the situation as we go along, his situation here. But look, it was an emotional night. You know? It was a it was a game where everybody was involved in it. We are playing against a really good Liverpool team at the moment. I've mentioned, probably the best in Europe, probably the best in certainly the best in our country at the moment. And we we had to do as good a job as we could on Liverpool to get a result. And we just about got there on the night. So it was an emotional night for everybody. And actually feel a bit for for Arne Slot, because this was, this is a the sort of thing which, when I was a younger manager, I was always getting involved in heated things. So, and it also tells me a little bit that he cares a lot about his club. He's fighting for his players. So, you know, everybody has to do what they do, and he was doing that for his team. Yeah.

That's a really poor response to a very direct question from a club friendly journalist.

I think the clubs comms team would do well to prep/brief a manager on how to respond to things like that in future.

He was asked how Doucoure was doing, and he's said he's fine. And then said he was disappointed in Doucoure, talked up an emotional night that everyone was invovled in - before saying he felt sorry for Arne Slot.

All that said - people read way too much into press conferences but occasionally, on issues like this, you really should be getting it right. That, he got wrong.

Dave has to be careful about how he interpret things????

Believe me mate.. hes extremely careful in that regard. To a science.

I don't think Moyes was appeasing racists. He was asked how Doucoure is and I thought he answered the question. The matter is being dealt with by the club and the police which are all aware of and in no way is Moyes appeasing that.

No, that's a different matter.

This is about Moyes's response, which was shocking in how lame he was.

Feller's a dinosaur. Any manager worth their salt would be on that and point blank making it all about the racists...but Moyes turns it round to make it about Doucoure.
He is only guilty of not answering the question. I don't see how he's turned it on Doucoure.

Doucoure was still silly getting himself sent off. The racist abuse that came after is disgusting and has been called out.

Did you see this place Wednesday night? Some glad he's suspended. Are you hunting them down as well.

Me either.

In the very last minute of the video, he did say a little bit more on it and did say it was completely wrong. Agree it was maybe not the best answer overall by Moyes and he could have been more supportive of the player. But people are reading a bit too much into what Moyes said.

Time stamp is around 9 mins 40

Maybe just watch the press conferences in full before getting the pitchforks out.

He was asked how Doucoure was in general after the racist comments, he said he was fine, he skirted around the topic a little but then finished with:

“I was disappointed in Doucs because he’d played so well in the game, he’d done a great job for the team, but it still doesn’t mean that people are allowed to abuse you, you know, and if that’s the case then it’s completely wrong”

End of discussion.

It's the bit in the middle where he says about him not doing it again if given the chance which has got Dave's back up.

He is only repeating what he said before all the racist abuse.

You risk inadvertedly appeasing it indirectly by putting any blame on the victim, and talking up external factors like emotional night, and other like Arne Slot.

Racists on his Instagram feed are saying he invited/deserves all that abuse because of his behaviour, and his social media post.

'doucoure was racially abused, how is he?'
'he's fine, im disappointed in him, actually. he got himself sent off. it was emotional. see, it even got to poor arne slot'

Next time, and there will be a next time. Something like;

"We're giving him all the support we can. We need to stamp this evil out of the game, the club are working with the Premier League to do all we can".

Thanks.

Just listened - still the same issue, he's again repeated his disappointment in Doucoure (another 2 times), and even said wouldn't do it again.

He also says if thats the case, with regards to racial abuse.

It's just a bad, clunky, brain fart of a response and the club would do well to brief/support any manager on that in future.

You don't ref the victims behaviour in any incident of racial abuse. Or ref your disappointment in them. Just like you don't talk up a short skirt an alcohol to a rape victim.
