I prefer to give Moyes credit. What I will say, though, is I thought Beto was never given a chance by Dyche. I thought he started really well and just seemed to be discarded. I saw enough in Beto to prefer him to DCL and was amazed at how "wrong" it appeared I must have been when the manager wouldn't pick him despite DCL going a generation without a goal.

Maybe I should trust my own judgement a bit more in the future. I'm not always right, but I trust my eyes enough to know a decent player not being given a fair crack of the whip when I see one...

Yeah mate, there's no other team who would continue to play a player that goes on 15 game runs without scoring. Beto should have been given at least 5/6 more games each time DCL went on those runs.

Talent wise it is no question that O'Brien and Branners have more potential. The thing that really sticks out to me in the modern game is how comfortable almost all the center half's are at passing out the back and joining the play. Maybe Jags would have been a better ball player in this era, but that is what is separating a lot of modern center halves from the prior eras.
Jags was an absolute physical beast. Particularly before his ACL injury.

I still personally think DCL is better than Beto and if he played more under Moyes we would be seeing the best from him and more goals. However it's great to see Beto taking his chance. I think Palace away we will really see if Beto has progressed because it will be a hard game

No arguments. Branners imo has the potential to be better than Jags. Both are physical beasts. Jarrad has the edge physically and already looks to be a bigger offensive threat. O'Brien has the potential to be better than Distin who was very good for us. That is my point. It is not a knock on either of those guys. They were great.

Probably better all round, but finishing wise, I have my doubts. It would be great if they both suddenly became goal scorers. I think Dom is wanting out though.

Beto is a better finisher than DCL. No question. I think beto put himself about well enough last night to prove he can be a nuisance in the same way DCL can be when DCL is playing well.

DCL is better in the air, otherwise I think beto is clear.
