2024/25 David Moyes

As long as we get the points to stay up that isn't a problem...for this season. But I dont want a manager who has no drive and ambition to push this club on.
The manager literally says every week that his drive and ambition is to push the club on.

but obviously you prefer “nothing to do with me” and “it was like that before I got here”

Having O’Brien down as a better centre half than jagielka at this point is an absolutely mental shout to be honest.
tbf Jagielka got a run out at RB vs newcastle I think and was as close to a disaster as you could get. Moyes has form for trying a CB at fullback though, see one Joleon Lescott. (ten goals all comps 07-08).

I mean, I'm not saying O'Brien is a better CB than Jagielka, no one has seen him play a competitive game there yet - that'd be absolutely nuts.

But I dint have to hold my hand up. I state he was an upgrade on Dyche but not that much of one.

Dyche got us a win in that fixture last season...
Hahahahaha.

Knew that would be today's mantra.

Dyche only got a draw against Spurs last season.

And im sure I could do the same dance for the next 3 years that Moyes betters snotty.

Hmmm, the points deduction, the moral around the place, reduced signing possibilities...

Which way will he jump here to move the goal posts.

Same channel, same game, same contrarianism.

Different managers suit different things. I don't think it necessarily follows that an 'elite' manager gets better results in these circumstances with these players, in fact I would put pretty decent money on it that they wouldn't.

Yes what Id also say is while I wouldn't use the word elite, Moyes is clearly a very good manager for these circumstances and these players.

A lot of this is on him really.

That’s all i mean really, it’s not a criticism of O’Brien just a comment on the totally unsubstantiated suggestion. For me it’s like saying iroegbunam is potentially better/more talented than arteta - it’s theoretically true but there’s just nothing to actually back it up.

I mean of all the things to say might be different to his first spell, having better centre halves seems a mad shout. It was probably the most consistent quality we had in any position in his time here.

He deffo had a bit of a look of Papa Carlo when it went in and walked down the line. He had a proper sneaky twinkle in his eyes

Pretty obvious Beto was made to feel like a spare part under Dyche with little to no effort made with him during his time here.
I prefer to give Moyes credit. What I will say, though, is I thought Beto was never given a chance by Dyche. I thought he started really well and just seemed to be discarded. I saw enough in Beto to prefer him to DCL and was amazed at how "wrong" it appeared I must have been when the manager wouldn't pick him despite DCL going a generation without a goal.

Maybe I should trust my own judgement a bit more in the future. I'm not always right, but I trust my eyes enough to know a decent player not being given a fair crack of the whip when I see one...
