Really the ideal situation is to have three attacking players behind Jelavic who can swap positions at will and aren't bothered about being stuck on one side of the pitch. We don't really have that yet, but we do have wing players in Pienaar and Mirallas who can play both flanks well.
I heard there's a pretty good American player who can play behind the striker and on the wing...
Would make sense and would be a great present from the board.
Will it happen? Doubtful.
However, it could backfire. If we dont get Champions League and hes spent next years money. We are goosed and he will surely be gone!
I remember him asking for 16mill for Dzecko and Hazard, they couldn't produce it.
I don't see how the Champions League matters, this money is income guaranteed regardless of league performance.
Of course it matters. If he spends money in January and fails to get a Champions League position. We're left with half/maybe no budget again next season.
So we would then need the sale of Fellaini to fund any good solid incomings - that will be good enough bolster the squad.
Then the rebuilding starts again...
Clubs already spend what they don't have, ever heard of bridging loans ? This would simply be giving him money now which we're guaranteed to get next season.
We dont... Not in recent years.
Im not saying its a bad thing. What i'm saying is it could backfire. He could spend half/all the money finish 7th and have a couple of flops on his hands.
Come the summer we have no budget. No European football and Moyes sees no other option but to end his stay with Everton there.
Im just putting the flip side on it. Which could happen. Nothing to do with how clubs spend money.
We've been taking bridging loans out for years. The reason we don't have money to spend on transfers is because we don't make any money. The new TV deal guarantees around £20m per season extra income, which will see us make a good profit.
The only way this plan of action could backfire is if we were to be relegated, otherwise we'd simply be operating a year in advance of income.
