David Moyes demands physicality

I agree with Moyes too, but does he have to tell the world? That's now a license for some arsey ref today to get his cards out of his pocket to brandish at Everton players.

Keep it indoors.

Me, I like the pretty football, long may it rein, but despite myopic Wengers moanfest, we are the most fouled team in the prem, so if we give some back, you'll not see me complaining too much.

That's certainly been absent since the second half of the Wolves game. It's just as ineffective as the hoof. Get Arteta further up the pitch and Fellaini back in his holding role and take it from there.

Does anyone think that Arteta & Mofro "cancel" each other out? Mofro is the most genuine "box to box" midfield player we have. Not really sure about this defensive mid tag, though he does that so well. In my view, I'd solve our right wing problem by putting Arteta back on the right with licence to move inside and move Osman in the centre, where he's more effective so long as he doesn't try to beat more than two players.

Having experienced Everton's worst start to a season under his management, David Moyes has called for more physical and less pretty football. Fulham, who entertain them tomorrow, have been warned.

Two points from their opening five matches represents Everton's worst beginning to a campaign since 1994, when they were salvaged by Joe Royle under an approach labelled The Dogs of War. Although Royle disliked the term, it is a strategy that would meet with Moyes's approval, if only temporarily.

"We need to rediscover our toughness and maybe we will have to sacrifice a little of the playing style to get better results," he said. "You would always find it hard to out-fight Everton but that happened against Newcastle last Saturday.

"I told the players I have been disappointed by the physical side of their game, especially against Newcastle. I don't think we have competed as well as we can."

I've been saying they need to play with more ANGER for weeks.

If someone's on the half way line running at us on a counter - put the ****er in the stand!!!

If you're in their box and its a scrap just stick a foot or head in to put it in!!!!

And tackles all over the shop. Kick [Poor language removed] out the snides.

Sorry. But I think we've identified that we've been out battled for weeks.

We get bullied out of it. Anfield last year - the snides did it.

Newcastle tried it twice now. Many sides try and do it. Bolton. Blackburn.

Give it em Everton ffs
I lost track of the quotation marks for a second and though Moyes had said that bit too. I was well buzzing

Fellaini and DM role: he played there for Standard Liege, he's played his best football for Everton there. I wish he was just left there to do his stuff and not be ****ed about. It's not that hard to work out it's his preferred and best position, surely?

Arteta on the right I wouldn't argue with - though I'd prefer Coleman out there. Actually, if there's a player besides Bilyaletdinov who's proving to be a square peg at the moment it's Arteta. I think he might be suffering from Moyes inablity to play different systems other than his security blanket of five across the middle.

I think Mofro has a natural inclination to go forward tbh. Though like you, I wish he wouldn't so that it would allow Arteta to boss the midfield more. I just think that Arteta and Bily's performance thus far makes us seem like we're playing with just 9 players.

As for Coleman on the right. There is a case for playing him on the right in the same way that Le$$cott was played on the left when he came. With Nev behind him (Hibbert won't play from what I'm hearing), we'll have a strong right hand side, but as you say, Moyes does seem to like to stick to a system.

We're talking about toughening up and hard but fair right?

Not dirty shithouse tackles and hurting players?

I agree with Dave, why Moyes is telling the world this i don't know. If you're Hughes now you tell your players to exxagerate every challenge and make the most of every little shove and tackle. In other words get our players booked for nothing so if they do go in hard risk getting sent off and tipping the game in Fulhams favour.

If you want your players to do something Davey tell them in training not the media.

That's true actually. Part of being a manager is knowing who to say things to and when to shut the fcuk up

Moyes you bad tit

MOYLES OUT!!

Anyone considered that he might have said it to try and alleviate fans fears that we'll roll over again?

I'm actually feeling fairly confident for today

Maybe so but he might be playing into the hands of over zealous refs.

As for your second point I am too. Don't see Fulham as a 'shut up shop' type team in the way of Blackburn, Wolves or even Villa.
Haven't seen them under Hughes but they generally try to play footie and that should be to our advantage. Didn't see the game against the barcodes but seems as though we coudn't play any worse. I said on another thread that I think we'll nick it today. 2-1 or 3-2. coz we'll defo concede

But talk is cheap. If he really wants to alleviate fans fears that we are gonna roll over he needs to make sure his team don't go out and roll over during the match.

If he said nothing, our fans - your type in particular would say - he and they're not showing enough guts and fight for the cause.

Catch 22 lad. He's saying what I want to hear. And addressing the problem I, and Danny and several others identified weeks ago.

That of not putting in tackles hard and early enough. Putting a foot in on the half way line. etc.

That and scrapping more in their box.

Having been revealed as the most fouled team in the Premier League, it emerged this week that no team has accrued fewer disciplinary points than the Goodison outfit. Put those together, and it gives credence to David Moyes’ fear his team have lost their competitive edge and are in danger of being too easily bullied out of games.

The stats show that we need to show the anger.

My type? **** off. Mind you i guess its better than being your type and being an arrogant pretend to know everything prick.

I've said numerous times on here that i don't care one bit for all the talk players and managers come out, its simply that : talk. Which means nothing at the end of the day if they don't back it up on the pitch.

I actually agree that they do need to toughen up on the pitch. Thats on the pitch not in the media.

So **** off with trying to paint me as a certain "type of fan" you seemingly want me to be so you can try and make yourself look better by arguing against something i've not even said.

If we roll over today and put in a [Poor language removed] performance what will you think of his words then?
