It has to be Seamus, in terms of business and profit, and the personality too. Just a proper lad with the right head on his shoulders.

Also credit to Leighton Baines. Not only world class, but for his personality. In this day and age of vapid and vacuous ponce footballers, the local lad who comes to Goodison, calls it home and demands nothing other than the support of his fans. It's a thing of beauty.

Soooo difficult.
In terms of quality it has to be Baines and Martyn.
In terms of team then Cahill.
In terms of being in the right place on the pitch at the right time, and being prepared to get hurt then Jags and Cahill.
In terms of find of the century then Coleman
You have to put Arteta at the same level as those 2 in terms of quality, he was special and we have never replaced him

Martyn has to be considered the one who had the biggest impact on the club's fortunes. Without him we'd have been down in 03/04, absolutely no doubt in my mind about that.

Arteta, for me.

After that horrendous start to 2005/06, we could have easily regressed again.

Arteta kept us playing football and was the main driving force behind turning us from the plucky 1-0'ers in 04/05, into a quality top 6 side over the following few seasons.

Martyn
Yobo jagielka lescott
Coleman Fellaini Baines
Arteta Cahill Peinar
Yakubu (before injury)

Bench
Howard (06-13)
Neville
Fernandes
Donovan
Johnson
Heitinga (11/12)
Mirallas

Hell of a team and bench when you look at some of the fees paid. Would love to include Carsley and Graveson but Moyes didn't sign them.

"Best signing is difficult"
For value: probably Coleman at 60k. However, his form has been up and down over the years and we probably sign around 4-5 of these punts every year. This was just one of them that came off. And you have to consider sell on fees. we got 23mil for Lescott in 2009 and 3 top years of performance.

For quality: Arteta or Baines. Arteta edges it for me as he was brilliant before his 2009 injury. Never quite the same after but still a good player. Baines was very consistent from 2009-2014 but has started to tail off a wee bit. Plus we paid 6mil for him in 2007 which was a decent size fee at the time, whereas Arteta was just 2.5mil in 2005 and we ended up getting 11mil back for him in 2011.

For heart/passion: Cahill. No question.
Honorable mention for Neville. Made a few PR gaffs in his day but did give everything for EFC, and often against his favorite club. 2008 tackle on Ronaldo, put his pen away in the 09 semi, and eased Wayne Rooney away from goal when he'd rounded the keeper in 2010 game at goodison.

Personal favs: Martyn and Peinar.
Peinar was a class player who didn't get the credit he deserved. The problem is that he was a bit camera shy and I suppose he did leave us for more money to go to Spurs. Martyn was great for us, especially during the 04/05 season when we finished 4th.

Could it actually be anyone but Timmy Cahill??!!! Loved a bit of Mikel Arteta Amatriain though.

We did, as a matter of fact. With top of the range lawnmowers.
Fair call though, Arteta was quality, but the two I mentioned I rate as world class in their positions. I'm not convinced Arteta quite made that, excellent though he was.
