just used SQL server in my Data Warehouse module, got a 1st which i was chuffed with, would seriously love this job if i a) didn't live in swansea and b) could move up to the area i.e. had no commitments :( damn gf with 1 year uni left and an unwilligness to move. should start a poll of wether to leave her but that'd be harsh

Apply, get the job and tell her to meet you up there in a year. Sorted.

SQL? More like excel and access db's with some data mining thrown in for good measure.

I suspect it will be a crap load of dodgy Access DB's pulled from an ancient CRM with people pulling data into Excel and "analysing" it. Yuck.

I wish this was 5 years ago it would have been ideal. I would consider a small drop in wages because I would be working for Everton but suspect the "competitive" wage will be woeful.

"the post-holder will be assisting in the administration and development of the Club databases".

No way in hell they're only using Access for this. It's defo SQL Server. If they using Access as the clubs database we're in deeper trouble than I thought.

That would be awful.

Throw in season tickets, and it might be worth it.

ha exactly my thought, would not suprise me in the slightest though

Well. I doubt it will be databases in the term we are familiar with, I think if they wanted a DBA, it would specify. I doesn't though. Which is why I suggested the above.

Writing queries, whilst not strictly a DBA function (
Ho ho ho!) would, and require some technical ability.

I do this exact same job, well I manage a team of 3 to do work like this for other clients.

At a guess Salary will be £18k - £22k

All true. This is more of a Data Analyst/Jr. DBA role. I'm sure this person wouldn't be doing any of the Production DBA stuff (Backups/Restore/Recovery/Creating tables/Load Balancing etc), however just saying "I'm good at Excel and Access" would not be enough I would imagine.

That low? Hard to believe you could graduate from Uni with a technical degree, and some experience, and only get paid that. Over here, that would be minimum 25k pounds if not more.

Defo that low IMO.

We recruit for same position on £16k start, with pay revier after 3 and 6 months.

Uni with a technical degree wont be in this job for long 6/12 month development role, moving on to Senior or Specialist, again IMO.

The thing is, they could probably outsource this work, to a company like mine. Everton like to do that anyway, maybe I will get one of my Direct Sales team to pitch them, save them money !
