I'll be surprised if he's still here after the current window, not a RM type player, i.e., someone who's going to take on board tactics, eating habits, etc. Shame really, when he was fit he was a cracking signing, that screamer against Man City still lives long in the memory

In fairness to Gibson, there's zero evidence to suggest that he wouldn't take on board Martinez's ideas i.e. Tactics and eating habits

I'd be surprised if he isn't, he's not got a chance of passing a medical atm.

Said it plenty of times, late last season he came out to Dubai (There is a very hi-tech football rehab place here owned by Shiekh Hamdan), lots of teams come here mid season for the nice weather etc.

Gibbo arrives for some 'rehab' and brings with him his version of Jimmy Five Bellies, says it's his personal trainer.

On the Guinness together every night, turning up to 'train' the next day with a bruised head from 'tripping over in the hotel' and other such crap.

It's an absolute joke he's tolerated. Such a shame, he had that six week spell in his first season when he was a class above anybody else central.

Until he got injured. Again.

First time I've heard of anything like that to be honest - I've always seen/heard that he's actually very professional and I doubt Moyes or Martinez would allow anything less.

Where did that story come from?

We've been through this before. Even if what you are saying is true, there is no reason to think it wasn't club sanctioned and probably club endorsed to send Gibson away to let his hair down after months of mind-numbing rehab.

With regards to the latest news that Gibson is doing a 'mini pre-season', it must mean he's had setbacks after being reported as being close to a return and was 50/50 for games a month ago. He's been out for two months total and is now doing this 'mini pre-season'. Who knows when he'll return. Maybe February? 3 more weeks of this 'mini pre-season' seems enough. But then Martinez might as well just call it a 'pre-season'. In fact in total it's probably longer than a regular pre-season so he should really be calling it a 'maxi pre-season'.

I think that Ledson is the player that most closely resembles Gibson in style. I think that next season Ledson will be a serious contender for first team football and if we reach a comfortable mid table position this season he will get some action this term as well. In time I think he is Gibsons replacement.

A fit Gibson would bring something different to our team and would be a huge asset, but the fitness issue is turning into a real problem , it is heading towards two years since we last saw him regularly playing for our first team.
He is a player that we probably cannot sell at the moment but seemingly is never fit. RM will not publicly criticise his players but must be well
fed up at this stage and I have no doubt is constantly reviewing his squad and the future of players like Gibson, Distin, Alcaraz , Pienaar,Hibbert
and probably Osman are under constant review.

bear in mind that he was Rooney's big mate at OT.

Tells you all you need to know

Just thinking about this, I think Kone has put in more shifts since Martinez started than Gibson. Think about that.

He was amazing for 18 months and I still think he's a very handy player when fully fit. Just it doesn't look as if he's ever going to get a chance of breaking into this team. If we get a decent offer then I'd let him go because Kilbane is right, he needs to start playing regular football again.

Mate of mine works at the facility, in the capacity of booking in whole teams/individual players. Most recent visitors being Milan and Real Madrid, it really is different class. Man UTD were over last winter and Carrington is getting a refit on the back of the visit. There is a slim chance Everton will come out here, but only if we're knocked out tonight, so hopefully not.

The driver laid on for them for the 8-10 days they were here was with them pretty much the whole time they were not in hotel room, he reported the antics.

100% club sanctioned, use of facility was free but hotels/flights for both paid by EFC. His 'trainer' had EFC kit that was so small (due his his bulk) it looked comical. I'm sure the idea was to let his hair down as you say, but I doubt to the degree it was :pint2:

I would LOVE to see him back, fit and available because he's a real asset. I just don't believe it will happen. Fingers crossed though, sooner a fully fit Gibson than a fully fit Osman.
