Where is the logic in offering him a new 2 year contract? It's madness - surely a pay as you play deal should have been offered. I'm not convinced he'd have stayed if that was the only thing offered to him. He's not even in our top 4 midfield players in my opinion. Bizarre, and a total waste of money on wages.

Something must've been set in his previous contract pal - it's the only explanation.

Possibly if he made a certain number of appearances he'd be entitled to a new deal.
